The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Oooo I love bagel dogs! Potato skins are good, too. I like the premade chicken and pasta dish, where all you have to do is throw it in a frying pan and heat it up, for the life of me I can't think of what it's called. Also, the southern style biscuits would be heavenly with the creamed chipped beef that ya'll are talking about.

Sorry the bird died... I think whatever happened to it, it's chances were never good. Wild animals, especially birds, are so delicate to change and stress it's hard to save them.

You tried. :~D

I'm so sorry that Miss Accident Prone is sick now too. I'll be praying that the vet finds out what's wrong and that she gets well.

I will look for them when I go grocery shopping.

Still do not have my appetite back yet but it is getting better. Even coffee is begining to taste good again.

I think I'd do better with the troubled horses than the troubled kids, I don't know what to do with them :~D

Evening everyone.... Well, I was not jealous of your weather problems or anything but now I have some of my own... It's windy here. We'll have some high gusts tonight... 40-60. That's a lot of wind in tall tree country, pray for strong roots and branches on all the trees in the yard :~D We live in a cardboard house :~D

The kids were disappointed, that's for sure, but they've been around animals long enough to understand illness and death.

I sure do appreciate everyones support.

Has anyone heard from Becky? If ya'll are watching Fox news or CNN all they are talking about are the fires in Oklahoma.

She was here this morning. The fires on TV are scary, have no idea where they are in relation to her.

Fire isn't supposed to be the story in January. I don't care where you are.

No kidding, we have about 27 active fires going on in Texas right now. There was one close to me, I saw lots of smoke, it obscured the sun, but I never saw flames.

This is Miss Accident-Prone and I think I am about to lose her. The lymph node is swollen because of some infection the vet can;t find. Used a scope up her nose, into her eustachian tubes, did head X-rays. We've changed antibiotics three times and still her fever continues to hit 102.8, that's the highest. I can't keep it down. Now using Naxcel,. 20 cc. per day. I hose her down all the time to bring it down to 100 but it won't stay down. She won't eat. Is very thin. I tempt her with everything and anything.I've been up with her for four nights now and am really tired. Anybody know how long a horse can sustain a fever like that?

Gosh squarebarb, I'm so sorry your mare is so sick still. Pinging the group for all they might be able to offer. You have my prayers.
