The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Happy New Year!

Heard lots of gunfire last night. Bullets must be cheaper than firecrackers these days.

I bet smoke gets alot of birds but we currently don't have any fires going. That could certainly change today, we've got high fire danger.

If she's dead this morning, I'm gonna guess West Nile. It's still early, I haven't been out there yet. I'm busy watching "Dances With Wolves."

Fire danger will be bad today, it's warm and very windy.

Oh, and Happy New Year to you, too!!! Keep in touch, ya hear?

Good morning...

We were asleep at midnight but not a minute after, with all the fireworks and dogs going ape!

Duchess, let us know if you are still on dry land

Tuffy, let us know if your bird of prey survived the night

I still haven't been outside to check, yet. I have a houseful of company. My kids had friends spend the night last night.

Interesting piece of trivia: Are you familiar with the tv show from years back called "Fury"? That horse was the same one that Elizabeth Taylor rode in "Giant".

Giant was an ultra long movie with Liz Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean. You should rent it, you'd like it. Lots of horses.

Fury was a tv show back in the sixties. Fury was a wild black stallion that could only be ridden and handled by his young owner, Joey. It was the young female horse lover's dream show, I never missed it.

I hope it's not West Nile. These birds fly very long distances though. There's no telling where he has been.

You too. They keep telling us around here that what goes up , must come down but some don't listen and we hear gun shots too. My husband and I headed out for breakfast and then to the critters.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE:)!

I was in bed by 11:30. I only made it that long because Jenny was here and we watched a couple of movies. The Polar Express, and Big Jake. I love John Wayne movies:)

We just got home from having breakfast. The weather is warm, but very very windy:(. I'm not sure what we are going to do the rest of the day.

Happy New Year and good morning everyone. No rain, water in the road has stopped running and has really decreased. I'll take pictures later.

In bed by 9:30 here also :) and for once didn't have to worry about fireworks. Reno even rescheduled the city sponsored ones - they will be tonight.

I'm glad he is doing things like that. He had been worrying me about not wanting to go home and staying on the road constantly.
