This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Does Washington and Lee have a Bachelor's program for Criminal Justice? I need something I can do online so I can keep working.
Doesn't look like they have criminal justice or forensics - W&L does have a law school but that's a post-grad program of course.
I looked, and they don't. It doesn't look like they even have online courses anyway. Oh well LOL. I am hoping the school doesn't get too wacky before I graduate. Once I get online I won't have to worry about the craziness anymore. I hope.

No, I go to a school In Houston. It's Remington College. I am getting my Associates Degree.
I think it has to do with the College administration. I doubt the state is involved in this. It's totally rediculous. The instructors already have enough problems with quite a few of the students. It's just going to get worse.
Wow, that's kind of scary. If it's in the administration, probably just best to take the degree and get out.
Yea, I will be happy when I will be online. I may stay at this school for my Batchelors, but at least I will be doing it online, and not going to class. My biggest concern, and I have already talked to the instructors about it, is to learn what I need to learn in order to get a good job. I can ignore the political garbage if they just teach me what I need to know.
Jan and I rode about 3 1/2 hours. It was a great ride. The weather was just beautiful.

Rocky will stand at his salt block and lick it like that, then drink gallons of water, then pees gallons then back to the salt block. I think it just becomes habit. I've always thought Rocky was obsessive complusive:) I take his away sometimes when his pen really starts to smell from peeing so much from drinking so much from licking salt so much:)

When we ran the penning here, we had all kinds of horses show up to do it, Arabs, icelandic ponies, Morgans,,,
I just asked because I wondered if you had other horses.
I know how you feel tho about people being critical of what you use your horses for. I catch alot from Arab and Mustang owners about using a Quarter to do competitive trails. The best thing is just laugh with them then beat their butts at the game:)

I jumped my Arabs ;~D And we did OK!
And I've penned cattle on Bay... though not very well, and the steers belonged to a neighbor whose cows got out ;~D
It's just pourin' here.
Had a great time penning today. The TB did pretty well for her first time. When she saw the cows her ears laid down and she started getting excited.
Nobody gave me a hard time about a TB penning with all the quarter horses.
I felt so good when I got home, I took out the Tenn Walker and went for a late night ride.
Good Morning....slept in a little. It stopped raining here, but is cloudy and cool. It looks like a good day, to go to the gun club. It's been awhile since I have been shooting. With the price of gas, I try to limit my extra trips. There is just too much bad news going on, and I need to get away and be among friends.
I once helped pen some escaped cows on a QH - but he was a racing QH (7/8 T'bred), 17hh, he had been retrained as a hunter-jumper, and he had never seen a cow in his life.
He did all right though, seemed to know what to do with a little prompting. He even started putting his head down and shifting side to side like a cutting horse. We got the cows back through the gap in the fence, and everybody had a good laugh at me on my tall skinny horse in my jumping saddle and breeches and boots . . .

Have a great time at the range. I wish that I could go. It's been a while since I've been too. I'm going to Six Flags today unexpectedly. I've been offered a free ticket. It's cold and overcast and it might rain, but it's the best time to go because the park is dead and there are no lines!

Good morning everyone!
Need coffee, and need to be a little more productive today than I was yesterday!
Yesterday I was at my daughter's marching band competition, which was very crowded. I was able to park my truck with the band trailers but when I tried to leave, the entrance was blocked off with cones and men were sitting there letting people in and out. About the time I drove up to the cones, there were a couple of maintenance men in a little working vehicle, similar to a kawasaki mule, trying to come in. They moved the cones just enough to let themselves in, but not me out. (the driver was a big ol' gross white guy, the passenger a slim black guy). Anyway, when they went by me, the white guy said in a very condescending tone, "she thought I was gonna let her out but it ain't my job, I'm a trash man." I yelled out, "you sure are!" The black guy nearly fell out of the work vehicle, laughing. I was able to make a getaway, someone else let me out right at that moment. I did see the look on the white guys face, he was furious about being one-upped in front of his buddy.
