The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

LOL, Why is your hay in the bedroom, I thought you had room in your barn.

The saddle I use stays in the trailer year round. Right now I have Jenny's in the house on the rack. I've loaned my western one out.

I'm still back on Saturdays posting, but cats do travel! My first cat was found scared to death in a container from Italy to the UK. She was pitiful and it took 3 months before she let us near. She turned out to be the most loving and beautiful cat ever though. We called her Bella.
She was deaf and sadly got run over about 6 years later.

My cousin's husband got so aggravated with the saddles in the living room he finally built her a nice couple of racks in the basement. They were getting in the way of his t.v. and football games.

I love the pics of all the snow! Makes me homesick for Scotland.

We have a 15 x 15 well house. Deaconjim made saddle racks one end of it and all the tack is hanging up according to which horse it is for.
We also store the feed in there in huge plastic barrels to keep it dry and pest free. It works really well for us. : )

We have had loads of high winds and rain here recently. It's not too cold though. The barn lost a lot of the tin roof, some came off and some curled over, so we have another job to do fixing that. It'll have to wait till the winds die down some though!~
It's deer season here and our freezer is full thanks to our new neighbours!~ Our Australian Shepherd has been bringing home a plentiful supply of legs! I don't know where she is getting them from (not our neighbour), but she is enjoying them! :)

Hi Rose. We have really high winds here tonight and it's as cold as I ever remember it in this part of Texas.

But it's Christmassy! Big fire in the fireplace, cat and dog snoozing by the blaze.

My Border Collie brings me all kinds of neat stuff he finds in the hunting camps around here. Legs, lungs, and once he came trotting up and dropped a .306 bullet at my feet.

Hi yah Rose. Horses are in the barn tonight. We are supposed to get this cold front about 3am. Right now it's spooky. It's around 70 and not a breeze blowing.

Yeah, I saw you were getting some bad weather. We are supposed to get into the low 40's around 3am. Rain is coming too. I hate it being dark all the time.

I've been gripping about even the 40's but tonight that would sound warm:)

I hate it being dark so much too, I'm always ready for bed by 8:00

Grizzly has brought home a few deer legs, and they are from our neighbor.

Our barn blew down too. The wind hasn't seemed to stop for over a week now, altho it's not blowing as hard as it did that one Sun. We have it put back together now except for the roof. As soon as it warms up a bit (this weekend hopefully), we may be able to get it done.

Oh - It's so pretty!

It's funny, I used to love the snow because when we get snow here, everything comes to a halt. Suddenly, it's not important to get anywhere, there's no rush be someplace on time, everything slows down and we go at 10 mph, perhaps even stopping to look at the sights or make a snow man. :~D

Of course, now that I have horses, it just means everything is more work.
