The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

My boss agreed to the 6am-3pm, today. Now maybe after I heal up, I can get some serious riding time in.

And good evening. Although I have not been posting replies I have been lurking and keeping up with the thread.

Wehave a howling storm of wind tonight in the Hill Country, it's beautiful with a full moon.

Later SB

"Cav raised him on a bottle."

Brought him home in my shirt pocket he was so small. When his eyes opened he would stare intently at my face as he nursed his bottle, just like a human baby. Very strange feeling watching him do that......

Good Morning. Anyone catch CMA awards last night? I got off game early to watch it, but the show was one of the worst I have seen. A few nice moments, but mostly blah! Sorry, I missed this cutie singing.

Hey Barb, nice to hear from you. Practically all of Ohio had tornado warnings last night. Windy, rain and possible light snow today. Temps 60's. last night, going down to 40's today.

How's the mare doing?

We are about at 28 this morning. The water troughs had ice on them this morning. The dogs got to come in last nite. I'm very worried about my old blue heeler making it this winter. The cold really slows her down, and I guess makes her legs hurt. It takes her awhile to get up and she walks very slowly and carefully.

There is a great arthritis drug called Rymadil that would do her wonders. You can give it all the time, or give it only when she's looking particularly stiff...

Good morning everyone!

It was a bunch of liberal baloney if you ask me. Elton John, Bon Jovi??

This is a link to my post on the live CMA thread http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1522736/posts?page=640#640. (read post 640 if the link doesn't take you there)

Good Morning to you too!

We made it through the storms last night without incident, but it did get a little hairy there for a while. About 7pm it was beginning to look like a tornado was heading our way and we high-tailed it to the in-law's and got in the basement. Thankfully the tornado never materialized and we went back home after about an hour. It had all blown over by 9 and I was glad. Stormy weather wears me out! It's 40 here this morning after being nearly 80 yesterday and it's supposed to get down to 20 tonight. It's quite a shock to the system.

Gosh - it didn't occur to me that you were affected by that band of storms, I was worrying about my friends in MO and farther north! Glad they passed you by, glad they passed you by.

Isn't it odd to have that kind of T-Storm activity associated with it being so cold out? You're colder than we are, we're at 39.

I'm not really sure that her problem is arthritis. Doesn't arthritis only affect joints? She had her leg broke when she was young. That spot seems to swell sometime, or else is calcium build up. Also she has hip dysplacia. I've given her asprin before. Seems to help, I just don't know what that does to her stomach.

HHmmmmmm, but she probably does have arthritis too, she's getting pretty old, and was very active when she was young. Always went on rides with me and ran....I hate to see her like this.
