The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

When I click the choose file box, and that window drops down where you pick the dates of the pictures you want to load, when I click on the day, the thumbnails should show up but they don't. It's just a white screen.

That same front is bringing us the threat of tornadoes, hail, 80mph straight-line winds, all that good stuff. And it's HOT right now! It makes me nervous as a cat! Especially since it's not supposed to be overwith until the wee hours of the morning. I HATE storms at night!

This is in Snapfish? Do they have a bad file name maybe? Were they not saved as jpgs?

You might wanna just give her her shots yourself from now on. It'd be a whole lot easier on her. I do all mine and never have a problem. I order all the ones I can from Jeffer's and pick up the others from the Vet and give them at home. The only one I have to take them to the Vet's for is the rabies.

When Mack was a kid he was always allowed to sit in front of the TV for meals. When i was a kid we always sat at the table. With our kids, it kind of turned in to a 50/50 thing. I like sitting down at the table with the TV off. It usually forces you to visit, rather then sitting and staring at a screen. I think it makes your family closer.

I really miss sometimes that time of visiting. I've been sorry to see that my kids don't set a table and sit for meals. I think it's an important habit to develop for numerous reasons. It promotes family, and it teaches kids some table manners. You go to resturants now a days, and you see kids all over the place. They can't sit and be still and have a nice meal....IMO, that's something they learn at home. They won't learn it if they never sit except for occasional holidays.

Even now with just the two of us I'd like to sit at the table more often....

You're right, we sat at the table growing up... and it's true that ecurbh and I spend a lot of our time together staring at screens that are right next to each other :~D

Email me one of the pictures that you can see on your computer, but that snapfish won't display in the loader... I just want to see if your camera is saving them as the right kind of picture file for snapfish to recognize.

When you are in the snapfish load tool, can you get other pictures to show up and work fine in it, just not some particular batches?

Well, we do too. I hate it too, but can't seem to stop:) Seems to be the order of things now a days:(

And with that, I'm out of here (at least for awhile, with the weather like it is there won't be much else to do besides stare at a screen).

I can't e-mail pictures anymore, or at least haven't figured out how to do it. Since we got the Mac, the Yahoo e-mail won't give me the place to click to send them. I've talked to 2J but can't get it to work.

You it's just particular batches that won't show up. I just went back and checked, and the pictures that I tried loading the other day won't show, that was on the 2nd. But pictures on days after that worked fine, till today.

Well this is just no good at all! But I have no idea why. I'll think on it.

Are you going riding then while it's nice? have a good day, whatever it is you've got planned.

Well dang, that's an excellent suggestion! She has to have a west nile booster in 30 days, I bet my vet will let me do that one myself. She had the rabies shot while he was here.

Sounds like you're having spring in the fall. Be careful today, keep one eye on the sky...I must admit, stormy weather is my favorite. I'm terrified of tornadoes, though.

She was down to two and got upset because she thought they were eating each other. What happened was the water level got to low and two fish got hung up underneath the filter intake. Once I figured out what happened and cleaned it up, I called to tell her and she told me to keep the tank.

Yeah, West Nile is one of the ones I have to get from the Vet. EPM is the other one. My Vet has no problem with letting me take those home, but he's very adamant about giving the Rabies himself. Something about liability if the vaccine isn't stored properly or given properly and the horse gets rabies then gives it to somebody. Jeffer's won't even ship it to most states. It makes sense I guess.

Yeah, they call November our "Secondary Tornado season". Just lovely isn't it. It's bad enough that we have a Primary one, but to have a Secondary one is a bit much.

I went out to breakfast with my uncle this past Saturday and there was this little girl behind us who kept laying down in her seat and kicking the wall. It got both of us pretty cranky because we were having a conversation and neither of us could hear what the other one was saying. She also kept turning around to STARE at us. That's ok, little kids do that, but she was doing other obnoxious things too, and the parents did nothing about it. Nothing.

No, probably no riding today. Too windy and cold. I'm trying to get in the habit of doing some housework every day, so it's stays clean now that I have it all clean....and I've got some bookwork to catch up on.

I used to keep 4 fishtanks going, a 75 gallon, a 55 gallon, a 30 gallon and a 10 gallon. I had a 16 inch long, 8yr old Oscar that was almost like a dog, and a bunch of other Cichlids of various types, but none were as smart as him. It was fun for a while, but I spent way too much time cleaning tanks. After the Oscar died I took down the 30 gallon and the 55 gallon. I still have the 10 gallon at the house with 2 fish in it and the 75 gallon is at my in-laws in the pool house with all our other stuff that's in storage. I sure hated to move that monster but it's got some really pretty live plants in it and I hated to just throw them out. It's got one Silver Dollar fish in it and a really strange looking black and white stripped spiny catfish that moves about as much as a rock. One of these days I'm going to get another Oscar, but not right now.

HI Becky,

Thanks for your concern. I am doing better each day and getting stronger.

It was a scary ordeal to go through. Glad its behind me. Nice to see the improvements going forward with my health. Oh those W to W (wonderful) vitamins, kept me going and was masking how tired and worn out I truly was. Had to go off them a week before operation, and at the end of the week I was really dragging and so tired and worn out. The vitamins are very effective, are you still taking them? Dr. told me to go back on them when I came home from the Clinic.

I do get some lower body exercise in each day, as the Clinic set up guidelines I need to follow to get strength to where it should be. Nothing real strenuous till after check up, the Clinic will write what I can do then. I'm pretty restricted right now till the breast bone they cut through is fully healed.

Everyone has been so good to me and like the visits, Thanks Miss Targets, for coming to see me. it always perks a person up getting nice visits. Never realized how confining and boring it could be till it happens to you.

Better get going, hope you all enjoy your day and Happy Riding.

Maureen
