The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Those are cute pictures:)

I can't watch they are moving the patio door to the opening to put it in place...

Alot depends on the weather. I usually am in jeans and t-/sweat shirt. It will probably be warm where you're at, right?

Nothing special, unless you're trying to make a statement:). Cowboy hats, chaps, long sleeve western shirts, neckerchief's, etc. I was surprised at first how many people dress the part. I'd rather go for comfort.

Whatever you'd normally wear to ride :~D

Plus maybe a couple optional layers up or down for the weather. You may want to get, and try out, a set of small saddle bags. Try them out on SL before the trail day at walk/trot/canter, to make sure she won't be suprised if they bounce on her. If your saddle rings don't have ties on them, make some. Practice too, rolling a jacket or windbreaker up, make she she's not spooked by the sound of it, and practice tying it on her well so it won't come undone or slip off to one side.

In saddle bags I carry my camera (if it's not around my neck) and toilet paper, cell phone, a couple bottles of water and a couple candy bars. She should either wear her halter, in addition to the bridle, or you should bring it, and a lead rope, in case you need to tie her somewhere at a break stop.

Well I'm comfortable riding in sweatpants and a loose T shirt but that might be too casual.

WOO HOO! Progress! You don't want to go outside and stand under where you can catch it if they drop it? ;~D Take pictures once it's in place!

I often color coordinate a ~little~ for organized rides, but I bet not one person will notice what you are wearing :~D

Personally, I wouldn't worry about being too personal. Go the way you are most comfortable.

Around here people show up at these things in every way possible.

Well the hole was almost perfect. It fit great. Now they are just leveling it up.

I'm very glad Travis showed up to help set it in. I did not want to be the one standing on the outside:)

When I was riding Belle, I always had her in tip top shape and the tack neat and clean. I never thought to cordinate myself with the horse. I'm not much of a fashion person:).

I agree with you that no one will notice what riders or horses "really" look like. They are all worrying about if someone is noticeing them:)

Gonna look great! Does it feel like a different room inside?

Are you going to leave those trees when you put in the porch?

The livingroom seems so much bigger.

I think there would only be one tree we would have to take out, and probably need to anyway, as it's branches are getting close to rubbing on the roof. It's an ugly tree anyway, the branches are all on one side and it leans towards the house.

I wouldn't make the porch big so the rest of the trees can stay. I can't wait till tomorrow. I'm going to put Rocky back there and sit in my chair and watch him wonder around:).

Well, I would like to make a good impression but I don't want to dress as something I'm not though. I don't even own a cowboy hat and my favorite t-shirt is torn on the side where I caught it on the saddle one day so I guess I do need to clean up a little. I might brush my hair and clean my boots too:')

If you want a bigger deck, build it around the good trees. I've seen people do this and make flower boxes. It's very pretty.
