The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Now that you mention that, I remember you saying that before about that pony.

Well, I gotta go to town, back in a bit.

Kristy's trying to find a small buggy/cart type. She's always wanted to train one to pull a buggy. I've been to a show once where little ponies like her were used to pull. That would be a hoot to do.

A small person could probably do well in the pony business.

The little lady Tiff sent our pony to very much specialized in ponies... she only weighed about 80 pounds, and she was one of the few pros around that weren't too big for her. She, and her tough kids she put on them. :~D

They had her going pretty well by the end of 30 days, yeah, and they could have made more progress if they kept her another month, but really, they came to the conclusion that even after another 60 or 90 days, she still would not be a beginner's pony.... which is what Jesse was then.

It's funny, brave and experienced as he is now... he sortof shuddered when I suggested he should come over and work with her now.

She needs to go to a very brave little pony clubber. But one who doesn't need her to be ready right out of the box. Someone who will put a lot of training miles on her. Trained pony club ponies sell for $10,000 plus. the return on investment on her could be huge in the right hands.

Do you saddle her? Is there stuff on the ground that you can do to make it easier for her rider?

I adore ponies. And I can get away with as small as 13 hands. The pony, Banjo, that I'm riding in the who's who page is about 13.2. :-p My first dressage trainer is about my height, 5', and she showed pretty high up through dressage on a welsh cob pony. His name was Snidely Whiplash.

Becky, Congrats on the baby! You must be so excited! And that's an adorable pony.

Ruthie, I'm so glad that you're safe.

I just got in. It's been a long week. My grandfather has been sick, so I've been helping my grandmother take care of him, and I had a movie night with some girlfriends. We watched a couple of scary movies to celebrate Halloween. (Early) It looks like it's going to rain Saturday, (AGAIN, the fourth Saturday in a ROW) so I might not be able to ride. Sunday, we're having a bonfire at the barn.

Go. Have some fun. You can study on vacation if you have to. All work and no play isn't healthy. There will always be "tests"

Good Morning....

Sun is even out this morning, after a week of rain. If I get a chance, after all the chores to do, I will try to get some pictures of fall colors.

Becky, That pony is really cute, kids look like they had a lot of fun.

Do you know anything about Uvalde? Next weekend (after the heart walk) we are going to go check out a piece of property on the Nueces river, that has pecan trees:') Sharn, I think we are going to sell the lake lot. Can one Realtor handle both? I really don't want to sell it until we find another place because we will just end up using the money for something else.

Brought home the new TB.

Rode her for a short time. She's nice and quiet.

She's in the pasture now and gets along fine with the Arab gelding. But she is still trying to figure things out the the other mares- TB and Shetland pony.
