The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

LOL. Good ones would be nice. Cindy wants to go back to post oak for more riding lessons. It's something called a dream horse clinic for women.

Is "post oak" the name of a town? or the place you guys went last time?

I've been really lucky in terms of injuries... But I almost hate to mention it.

I wrote a book once. It took me a year. After I finished I burned it:') I looked at your site. It looks fun. Something to think about next year, maybe:')

I've been thinking about what to say about my vets. Here's my contribution

I have two. The first one is kind of preppy and is wonderful with my dog. He's really in to tests and labs and he's very expensive. Horses tend to be a "I'll get out there , when I can" job. My horses like him. I do too (9-5 at the office). The other is my house vet. A country guy. He drives a van with a hatch back. His treatment stuff is in the back. He has a scrawny bird dog looking animal that comes with him. The dog always jumps out and goes to the bathroom and gets a drink out of the toilet. My trainer hates it but the vet doesn't seem to notice. My mare took one look at this bald guy in boots and jeans and decided he wasn't coming near her. Ever! A real battle of wills. He doesn't see to care and she always loses but they have to go thru this teeth baring routine each time. He doesn't diagnosis worth a flip and doesn't need any stinking lab. He treats "symptoms" Doc can't always tell me what's wrong but he's always been dead on with ordering the right meds. He's affordable and comes out whenever I need him.

I forgot to mention this afternoon, that tomorrow morning I go to the doctor with my daughter, and she is going to find out the sex of her baby:). We'll get to see the ultra sound.

Well, that's fun! Although I've had a lot of proud parents show me their ultrasound pictures and I've never seen anything but grey blobs :~D

I just nod and smile :~D

<laughing at the "bird dog like animal" who drinks from the toilet wherever he goes!> Maybe that's his personal variation on sniffing at people? Hey, it's a multi-tasking thing!

What kind of boots does your "house vet" wear?

Just old wide top cowboy boots that his jeans tucked into. I can't remember the color but it seems like they were dusty.

How exciting. Can they put it on a disc so we can see? Would Jenny mind?

LOL...this will actually be the 3rd ultrasound they have done on her. You're right the first one did look like a blob. The second one you could see the shape of the head, body and the arms and legs.

This particular OB group does a complimentary 3D ultrasound around the 38th week mark which will be in Dec. The doctor showed us an example of them, and that well really be neat. Looks like a sepia photograph. It's amazing. They will put it on a CD too for Jenny to keep and play on her own computer.

I saw an ultra should picture of JP when Kristy was pretty far along. It was the first one I had ever seen. She gave me a copy at her baby shower the first time I sawit, He showed up clear, caught me by surprise myself, but I just burst out crying,,,LOL...pretty embarrassing in front of all those women.

Last month at Jenny's appointment we heard the heart beat for the first time.

Anyway, all this stuff is so cool. I never had an ultrasoudn or heard the heart beat of my kids. Makes it more real a lot sooner.

I don't think she would mind. She carries her others around and shows them to everyone. I just don't know how to go about doing it. I don't have a scanner.

Okay, so do we get to find out as soon as you get home :) Do they have any names chosen yet? We probably would be pretty good at that.
