This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
It's a space issue. I just read that they need 15 feet or less. There would be no room to get around them here. We have two poles. First come first serve. The rest have to tie to stalls.
Yes, we don't want to be setting any horses on fire :-) Ugh, I am SO sore!
Hello, everyone. HOme from the birthday party. It was nice. I'm feeling better today then I was last night, but I still have a cold.
Great picture Cindy:)
I'm planning on riding tomorrow. At least for a little while.
Becky
Thanks. What does it mean when her ears are turned out like that?
I saw that you visited our site..thank you for your post. We are looking to expand our coverage area for those that are interested in joining the Stablemaids team nationwide. We were also surprised that there was a lack of this type of service when we wanted to take a vacation. We had to rely on relatives to care for our 7 horses.
Hello there!
Your service is a terrific one! And I'll be sure to give you a call when and if I move to the Tampa area. ;-)
Oh! And welcome to the Saddle Club thread. *smile*
It means that she's relaxed and listening to you. Looks like she's listening to you with one ear, and listening to what's going on on the side of her with the other.
Thanks, Ghost and E both finished. E came in second but didn't P&R until 6th. Pretty good for a mare on her fourth time under saddle since she foaled :) Ghost threw a shoe but finished - don't know what his placing is yet. Bob rode him with a friend of ours who was riding her stallion. She had surgery 9 days ago. Makes me feel like a real wimp. Gorgeous day in Nevada today - well, yesterday too.
I just got on so am hoping I'm going to run into pictures of her soon. Congratulations, she sounds beautiful :)
:')Eddie and I were talking.
:) And she's even paying attention to you.
It's a very valuable service. I don't have relatives who know anything about horses. We ended up flying in the daughter of one of the posters on this thread so that we could go on vacation. It makes vacation too much work.
Tuffy???
Oh thats good he finished. Pretty good for a horse just broke. I take it, he took everything in stride. The activity and all. Now, you got to get out there and do it. But, what would everyone do without you as "groom"...;')
Tracey riding Sonny in Adrian Valley - The High Desert Classic II, 30 mile Limited Distance, yesterday.
Bob riding Ghost in Lahontan Valley - The High Desert Classic III, 30 mile, Limited Distance, today.
Tracey riding E in Lahontan Valley - The High Desert Classic III, 30 mile Limited Distance, today.
Interesting (cool) statement made by one of the vets tonight at the awards. If Ghost hadn't thrown a shoe, the vet would have chosen him and Bob for the Excellence Award. :) Don't guess Bob will sell Ghost real soon.
We decided today that our mission is to make AERC aware of appaloosas as endurance horses, and we got a decent start on it.
Terrific pictures from the rides this weekend. The horses sound like they did just great.
Wish I could take credit for the pictures but they were all taken by a professional photographer that goes to most of the rides. He does a wonderful job of making everyone look great.
I'd love to do that.
Have you ridden one of these things? Or are you always 'crew'?
I think you'd really enjoy doing it and all the people are really nice. It's a lot of fun and endurance riders have the greatest motto "To finish is to win"
