The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

We're trying to remember the actress with the bangs over one eye - sexy old movie days... That's what she reminds me of.

I thought of the same thing! You mean Veronica Lake?

Good luck tomorrow, with the "Ghost" and the rest of the gang. I hope you get all rested up, and they do well. They had what was called a working trail horse competition that I worked at. It was neither a CRT or endurance race, but it was judged on obstacles, P&R's and time. It takes quite a few people to organize and help out at one of those rides.

She does not have a name, yet. I'm open to suggestions...

Her mom's name is Easy Waggoner Gal, dad is Midnight Waurika. She's a really pretty black and white paint, more black than white, so anything with Midnight in it is good. Midnight Dream, Midnight Fantasy, (one of my all time favorite names was a Tennessee Walker named Twilight Dream), anything like that. She also will need a barn name, I tried to get the kids to let me name her Sweetums, but it was a no go. :)

Hi tuffy, can't wait to see pictures:) Well you use this mare tor ride, or as a borrod mare?

We had a good day yesterday too. Mack didn't have to work, so we went Christmas shopping. My goal this year is to finish by Thanksgiving. We only bought one thing, but I know what I'm getting every one now for their "big" thing. The day didn't end all that great tho, I've had a bit of a cough and snotty nose all week, but thought it was allergies. Last night it turned into a full blown cold. I feel better this morning, but I don't know if it will last. I really can't afford to get sick right now, I've got to get serious next week about excerising Harley.

This afternoon I have to go to a birthday party for Blake at Jenny's house,

Becky

Mornin'!

I slept alright. I really dislike the house shuttered up like this. Feels like the walls are closing in on ya! *laughing*

Plus, you can't tell if it's day or night unless you walk to the front door.

OH! And at about 4 this morning, I heard something rasping and tapping against my mirrored closet door. When I finally gathered up the courage to hit the lights and look, it was one of hermit crabs!!

Somehow, that fella escaped the tank and decided to come visit me in my room!

Oh that's really weird! How'd he get out of the tank? I don't picture hermit crabs as big jumpers!

I sat and watched him a bit while drinking my coffee and he likes to stand on top of this rock thingie in the tank.

He must have stretched WAAAY out and somehow reached the edge of the lid; then hoisted himself up and out through the opening in the back (where the filter used to be when I had fish).

One of my Betta fish died sometime last week, so now my other one is really lonely. The tank needs cleaned. Still debating whether I should just take out the divider and give this guy the whole tank for as long as he lives, (and then shut it down - I'm tired of fish) or whether I should go save another one of the poor Bettas in the plastic cups at the pet store.

I faced that same decision yesterday.

Went to the pet store to buy Betta and hermie food and thought about picking up another Betta to replace Fred (who died months ago).

But I, like you, am tired of fish - so I decided against it.

I'd say let the one fella have the tank to himself and when he goes, I'll ship some hermies up to you and you can use your tank for that. :-D

Well, I don't want them walkin' around the house!

They have to be Olympic hermies to get out of your tank, chica!

My escapee managed to break out of a 10 gallon, but that's not too difficult. ;-)

Good Morning.

Getting a late start this morning. It's the type of morning for sleeping in. I am going in to work today, for a bit to get caught up.

Becky, I hope you feel better. One day this week, I went to bed at 9 PM. Pajamas, robe, socks, dog, cats, water bed, hot tea, and I still could not get warm. Seemed to have shook it thou. BTW, it's Maureen who is off. She is in Cleveland Clinic for heart surgery. Her sister called me at work Tuesday, and said everything went well. I have not heard anymore since then.
