This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
In case yall were wondering if I ever made it to the saddle:'(
Yeah. People should ask. I can't believe I didn't notice though.
Well I could have put a feed bag on them but I enjoyed watching them.
Are you ok? Someone owes you a big apology. That just is not right. A person who will use your tack will also ride your horse without permission. Tell the stable owner.
Yeah that's him but that's another gelding.
I'm ok. I just pulled some muscles. in my leg and back. The owner was the one that told me what was wrong and she was furious that someone used my saddle and then left an accident waiting to happen.
Hey, great pictures Cindy:).

Well good. Did you have a good ride anyway?
The equipment sharing around that place would make me nuts.
I didn't realize he was tri-colored. I had never noticed the black in his mane before and he's not a bay. Cool.
You're moving right along there :)
Will yall look at Okies mane? If you can't see it well I have another pic I can post. His hair has never been as thick as Sarah Lees but now his mane is thinning and gapped . He looks like scissors were taken to him. Maybe he's losing it in fights. I don't know if it means anything but his tail used to be black and it's now almost red.
You could do what I did to keep people out of my saddle. On the old fenders, (before Okie ripped one apart:), I had the extra stirrup leather cut off. That way only people as tall as me or shorter could use my saddle. Not much chance of that happening:). I never had the new ones cut short, and guess what, just the other day my son asked if he could borrow my western saddle now that I rode in the english. Seems that my lighter weight saddle will be a good tool for him to put on his young ones to while they stand tied saddled:).

It was short but productive. I had promised to knock off at 6:30. (Survivor on:')
He's probably rubbing it out. Look close for a reason for the itch, like lice, but most times they do it and there is no cause, 'cept itchin.
Hey maybe you can answer a question for me. I don't have a clue about it, but have heard other people argue the point. Is a horse colored like Okie a true tri-color? I've heard the point argued that a tri color has to have "spots" of brown AND black on their bodies. That just haveing black in their mane with all brown spots is not really a tri? I don't know, your comment tho made me wonder if you've ever encountered this argument, and if you/anyone has ever seen a horse with brown and black spots. I never have. That's why I'd go with that Okie would be a tri.
Becky
Better pics might help, but I'd say it's bleaching in the sun is all.
Good for you.
Now you've got me thinking, guess I'll so some research :)
