The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Cyn is just so goofy!

Maybe she's eyeballing you to make sure you don't come after her. *shrugs*

But I don't know if I'd call those mouth gestures "submissive".

It almost looks like she's sticking her tongue out at you. ;-)

Oh - and I did clean stalls too :~D

Pony's stall was a ~lot~ easier. Only took one wet barrow load out instead of two, and there was actually useable bedding left in there for a change.

Gidget and Homer helping to clean stalls. Gidget is sure there's a mouse that lives in that corner, Homer could care less.

Actually, the mouth gestures and tongue out behavior ~is~ a submissive gesture in horses. You'll see it in babies with their momma, and you'll see it in horses that are submissive when introduced to a herd.

Monty Roberts, the horse whisperer dude, will run them in the round pen until they do that. When they do that, they are saying "I give up, don't hurt me".

Shows my ignorance, don't it? ;-)

I'd be thinking she might be smacking her lips thinking about the taste of my arm.

Well, she does have ~one~ ear sorta facing back. *laughing*

She has such a sweet face though. No denying that.

She's saying "Hey Ma! That camera thing sorta freaks me out. Can you set it down and gimme a scratch, maybe?"

His price seems a little high, depending on the amount of training and ability he has, may be okay though. It's hard to tell from a picture and very little information on his pedigree but occassionally the tear drop spots fade with age - 'course a white horse with a black let would be kind of cool too :)

They're OK pictures... it seems like awhile since I've gotten a really ~great~ shot of them running... the light's all grey and dark and uninspiring.

As for the 'comin' at me' pic... It's showing up fine here. Here it is again.

It looks that way, doesn't it.

Here's one more pic, if you aren't maxed out yet... When they ran back to the back forty. It's not a great horse pic, but we've got fall color back there.

I did'nt take it like that. I'm happy to be using it. And it is in good shape. All is good in the world of camp trailers.

In a car, right? I'd like to but biology is kicking my butt. I have to concentrate on studies the next two weeks.
