Recently, I was stood up on a first date.

This guy claimed he was an M.D.; maybe they don't teach social skills in med school.

A guy who stands you up is a coward. If he can't look you in the eye tell you he's not interested to your face, his relationship skills are on a par with Cindy Sheehan's (all about ME) and probably he's not going to be a good, FAITHFUL protector and provider either.

Actually, I'd bet the guy wasn't an M.D. -- probably trying to use that to impress you and get your number but realized he was a fraud and didn't dare face you after all.

Sheesh. So many nice girls get burned by the FLAKES. And vice versa happens too.

Well, that's what you get for dating an "MD", instead of another person. There is a unstated message there.

Personally I would rather not know what a person does for a living prior to establishing a friendship (yes, friendship precedes serious dating, unless one is a masochist). And I certainly don't want to find out who or what she is filtered through her delusions. Nothing is as instructive as a few relaxed, long conversations.

And, certainly, that works both ways.
