Renee Zellweger & Kenny Chesney Split
Entertainment Tonight ^

Posted on 09/15/2005 3:17:44 PM PDT by TightyRighty

ET has confirmed that RENEE ZELLWEGER and country crooner KENNY CHESNEY have filed to anull their marriage of just over 4 months.

The two tied the knot in a surprise ceremony back in May on the beautiful island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where the singer has a home. In a short, 15-minute ceremony performed by a female preacher in front of a small group of family and friends, the bride wore CAROLINA HERRERA, one of her favorite designers, while the groom was reportedly barefoot.

The two met at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief effort last January 15 and maintained a quiet friendship that quickly blossomed. Fans first learned of their romance when Renee reportedly brought a margarita up on stage to Kenny during his show in Jacksonville, FL.

This was the first marriage for both stars, although the 37-year-old Kenny reportedly broke off an engagement to another woman in 1999, three weeks before the wedding. Prior to marrying Kenny, Renee dated WHITE STRIPES singer JACK WHITE and her 'Me, Myself & Irene' co-star JIM CARREY.

"The term was "simply legal language and not a refection of Kenny's character," Zellweger said in a statement Friday."

Okay, so where are the grounds for annulment then?

He shaved his beard.

...

That was my first thought too, especially when the report stated Renee put on her divorce filing "Fraud". I have never heard of anyone claiming that as a reason for annulment before. So Renee didn't find out till after the marriage(?) Can't say I blame any woman getting p.o.'d for being used as a prop wife.

LOL! I don't know, ask Renee.

At the hair salon today the girls were coming up with funny one liner reasons for "fraud".

I'm not as optimistic as you about her mental ability to adjust to a normal life. She appears to like the spotlight and seeks out guys of high visibility. One of the reasons for the successful marriage of Joan Woodward and Paul Newman was their ability to blend into suburbia and separate themselves from the Hollywood set. RZ doesn't demonstrate that same ability, although many of the Nashville set seem purposely set on doing just that.

All in all, I vote for his ability to sustain a long-term marriage to the right person more than her ability to adjust to everyday life, particularly if children are involved.

Since Zellweger crossed the race line to become Asian, things did go strange for that marriage IMO.

Oh sure: "not a reflection of Kenny's character"? What other word could have been used, then?

What's so gay about a guy wearing a black hat, pink shirt, tight jeans, and a baby blue lei around his neck; as he pinches his legs together, bends over just so, and waves over the audience what must be a microphone? Sheesh... some people.

; )

BFB, I heard it was only a "small" problem that caused the annulment. That Chesney just didn't "measure up" to Zellweger's standards. It's rumored that she was upset that Chesney only loved her "a little bit". She was even quoted as saying "He only loves me this much," while holding her thumb and forefinger an inch apart.

My babysitter read today (I think on a CMT web page) that she wanted kids and he didn't and she thought that he did when they got married. Perhaps he was fixed long ago as a precaution from "accidents" while living in the fast lane and the media spotlight. She's nearly 40 and maybe having children was her reason to marry to begin with.

Thanks Andy! Your Beagle is a good looking boy too! I really love my dogs but they can be a bunch of PITA's :)
I am sure Kenny wouldn't want anything to do with a woman with a serious dog habit going, lol....I can just see the puppies now grabbing his cowboy hat in their teeth and running off down the beach fighting over it.....

If Kenny were a real man, he wouldn't mind at all. Now if Renee made him live with cats, I'd understand if he wanted to get away as quickly as possible.

My theory is that the honeymoon was simply over and neither of them cared to stick it out...and why would Kenny care with all the girlies chasing him now? Unless he was madly in love with Renee, which apparently he was not.

My husband has me cut his hair, I use the buzz cutter to give him what I call "the velour cut" lol

I'm trying to get a visual on "the velour cut." Mr. h goes to a barber and pays about what I pay in tip money when I go to the "salon."

"...and that's just wrong!"
