U.S. plays its most important game on American soil in years against Mexico (LIVE on ESPN Classic/Telemundo 7:30 p.m. ET). A win against Mexico and the U.S. can secure its spot in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
A good point. But then people too often rip that which they have neither the time nor desire to attempt to apprciate.
I don't know crap about soccer, but love to watch it. The '02 cup hooked me, and it's a welcome change of pace from the major sports leagues in this country.
I spend a good deal of time overseas, and I always amaze the Brits and the Irish as being that American that likes soccer.
But they hate it when I tell them that we are good, and that we will win a cup, in their hearts, they know I'm right.
Soccer is Un-American
So is Pizza
Yellow card on a (typical) Mexico cheap shot. Hope DeMarcus is OK.
So are dumb comments like that.
DeMarcus got nailed, that is not good. The guy has such long legs, its inevitable...
That should have been a red. Crap ref!
He is ineligible for the next game.
MY BAD, Onyeawu is born in America, but it is a Nigerian name...doh!
If they look at the FIFA rankings they should know it for themselves. If I recall correctly, the last rankings had the USA ranked higher in the world than England for the first time ever.
They know the ratings, just can't accept the reality.
The Brits are resigned to it, the Germans and Dutch and French get really testy when you point it out to them.
BFD.My prediction is that this ref red cards a USA player in the last three minutes of the game to let Mexico get a goal or two. I hope I'm wrong.
Good. :)
I look at England and wonder how we're ranked higher than a nation that produces players like Ferdinand, John Terry, Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney.
Rooney is amazing to watch. I really enjoy watching his pace and power.
I'm trying to watch more Preimer League this year, been cheering Fulham for McBride, hate Chelsea.
That's how I spend every Saturday. And how did Beasley not score there? :)
I could have scored that!
I need to hit the Irish bar downtown where the Celtic followers are on a Sunday morning, could be fun.
2-nil to the good guys! Great to beat Mexico and keep a clean sheet!
USA BABY!!! WE'RE GOING TO GERMANY!!!!!!!
Amen!
We can clear all the carded guys and play all the newbies on Wednesday now!
