You know...I don't think I've ever seen a possum.

Back home, the typical road-kill critters are porcupines, skunks, raccoons, and of course squirrels. Sometimes turkeys.

Driving across country we also saw an armadillo...first I'd ever seen, and it were dead...

In Texas, it's skunks and armadillos you're most likely to find in the middle of the road.

They've even written a song about it:

Crossin' the highway late last night
He shoulda looked left and he shoulda looked right
He didn't see the station wagon car
The skunk got squashed and there you are!
