My favorite molasses cookies were in a Mennonite cookbook, and were called "Dusty Miller Cookies". And Dad apparently got rid of the cookbook, along with most of my other favorites. And last time I looked for it on-line, it was out of print, and the used copies (on Amazon and such) were going for close to a hundred bucks - apparently its in demand.
Grr.
They were absolutely wonderful, too. Not soft ones (I like those once in awhile, but they aren't my favorites), but melt-in-your-mouth good.
Did you know that a dusty miller is also another name for a moth? Just any old moth, is my understanding.
I've called moths "millers' most of my life.
