Good morning!
Well, I am a bone fide trained disaster relief volunteer for the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief team. The SBC team is the 2nd largest trained team of volunteers in the nation, did you know? Only the Red Cross is greater. (The Salvation Army doesn't require special training to be considered a volunteer.) I'm trained to serve food and clean up per health department guidelines and I began my training to be a part of an on-site medical clinic.
WAY TO GO, 2J!
Good for you 2J!
Congratulations! How far will you be willing to travel for disasters?
Congrats, 2J!! The churches are doing a remarkable job in all of the disaster sticken areas. My sister wrote me an e-mail bringing me up to speed on what was going on with my brother and other sister who lost their homes. They had all gathered at my brother's house to help clean up the mess before getting down to tearing out the sheetrock and taking it to the studs. While they were working, a couple of vans pulled up, full of folks from a church up in Olive Branch MS, which is just south of Memphis! They proceeded to help my family tear apart the house, and told them they'd be back in three weeks to help them put the new sheetrock up! It was really great of them to help in such a concrete way!
It's 1st, along with the SA on my list of possible recipients to charity.
Good deal.
