I don't think he would have been so bold so soon. He had so many backstories and history to give us. He'd let us get reeeeeeeeally attached to the characters before being so brash.
I liked it. Of course, I was more upset about the ship getting trashed, I didn't think they'd get it repaired. And I didn't really know who the character was... not really, he seemed nice but that's all.
Steampunk is good. I hadn't thought of it as steampunk but there are some similarities...
