Your little wifi indicator in the systray doesn't know about the health of your DSL connection. If it is giving goofy indications, like changing colors and whatnot... then the first thing to look at is the wifi itself.

Lots of possibilities. If you have the ssid broadcast on, a neighbor might be stepping on your connection. Some home systems only get set up for *one* allocated DHCP address, and if somebody else like a neighbor grabs it... it plays hell with your system.

Are your DSL box and wireless box different boxes, or are they the same box? Either way... do you have an instruction sheet on how to access the admin functions on the wireless box? It might just be a username and password for access to the wifi box.

< blank Stare >Huh?

*laughing*

If I double-click on the icon, I get the Belkin Wireless Monitor application. There are 3 profiles in the AP list.

linksys 41%
athome 39%
belkin54g 60%

Each has a % next to it which I assume represents the connection.

The Belkin54g is mine. My sister configured and turned on the encryption for me - but I don't know about the other 2.

It's strange. Usually I only see my Belkin and maybe "at home", but this "linksys" is new.
