Hmm, really? I thought it would add to the lag either way. Good to know! Though it seems a little like putting racing tires on a tricycle, to be honest, wireless and dialup.

Nope, I don't think so. I think it's more of a "bottleneck" situation. Most wireless networks transfer data at 11 Mb/sec., vs. 100 Mb/sec. for wired networks. By comparison a fast dialup may get 56 kb/sec., about 178 times slower than than the wireless network.
