I went through a Cat 1 when I was a kid...maybe a couple, but I remember one for sure. It went through during the night. My dad sat up all night monitoring it and I sat up a lot too.
It was dramatic, even for a small storm.
Good morning everyone! Glad to see some of you are finding the new place! Someone help ExGeeEye with his boxes while I make some coffee!
Helping would entail me getting out of bed first :o)
One of my more vivid memories growing up was sitting up all night while Hurricane Camille blew through my hometown. She'd hit the coast with top winds at about 200 mph, and was still doing 125 when she came through, almost 70 miles inland. My Mama, two younger sisters, one older brother two dogs and I were crammed into the hallway in the middle of our house, just off the kitchen. Daddy was sitting at the breakfast table, just next to a pair of windows. About 3 in the morning the wind picked up to a howl, and Daddy slowly scooted his chair back away from the windows about a foot. That's the only nervousness he showed all night.
