I am unabashedly biased in the matter, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that I'm really really proud of my Coast Guard shipmates today. Those guys didn't wait for a better plan, they just got in there and started doing what they could. It should be recognized that those pilots and crews and their support groups have been running solid for about 48hrs now. Probably precious little sleep for any of them.
[snif] You just gotta luv these guys... even if they *are* stinkin' rotorheads. :-)

Yep...they're doing far more than their fair share of the rescue work, and they stepped in right away, without messing around.

I have just sat and watched in awe at those rescues from the rooftops in New Orleans. On Tuesday, those guy were battling wind that kept moving the basket beyond where the guy was on the roof with folks. I don't know how in the world they ever were able to get it to him, but they did it. He did have to go chase it a couple of times, though. ;o)
I'm proud as hell of those guys! They did some great flying!
