The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Just finished a nice after werk snack of peanuts.

Think I'll put the empty hulls in the raised bed just to tease the squirrels.

Hey, the company I'm interviewing with tomorrow apparently makes water testing equipment. Ever heard of Hach?

They make those portable lab thingies? Cool! I don't do field work so I've never used one of those things.

It'd be more along the lines of what 2J's Steve might use, I take it?

Mmm, I would like some of that... but I'm out again. Just had time to shower and change and it's off to socialize with the geeks. I think I won't stay too late tonight. Tired...

Hello!

Watching Survivor: Guatemala here. Sort of.

Just got the girls to bed. Aly's asleep, but Becky's still fighting it.

Duct tape just doesn't hold like it used to. ;-)

Mmm...duct tape...

I'm all alone without a movie or show to watch and I'm tired of reading. *snif* Ain't I pitiful?

Also I'm fretting (big surprise there) over how to get to tomorrow's interview. On the one hand...I like Loveland. On the other...I like it, but I don't *know* it. And last time even though I left myself an extra half an hour in case of getting lost, I was still late. Not good.

No movie? How is that possible, chica?

As far as Loveland goes, just take it in stride. After the first dozen times, you'll be navigating the area like nothin'.

We don't have a movie plan anymore, and I don't have a Blockbuster card even were I willing to spend the rental cost. ;-)

I'm tellin' ya, though...as soon as I hear I've actually got a job, I'm getting Netflix.

Heh...I'm just always scared to death of driving anywhere I've never driven. It's why I was quaking in my boots at the thought of driving across country. And city driving...even just in small cities...that's the worst! Especially the getting on and off the interstate part. Trying to figure out a way that doesn't involve interstate...should be one.

Yeah...I guess that's what I *should* be doing, isn't it?

Actually, I don't mind the interstate (except for jerks on the road) and getting stuck in the wrong lane. Mapquest is usually good about telling you when you have to exit left. It's "in town" driving in an unfamiliar place I don't like...just ask Hair! I can never go back to that town in Washington where I ran a red light because I was looking for a street and navigating road construction barriers at the same time.

Watched Midway last night. I'm getting Enemy Below and maybe A Night in Casablanca this weekend.
