Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well, had a grad student teacher in physics I wouldn't have minded doing that to.
Looks like the beheading deal was pretty much SOP for any number of occupations 'back then'.
bbl, Gypsygirl wants to check out theshire, so we're off.

Gidget didn't come back out of the barn when I was done feeding and called her.... She thinks she's on a mouse.

He gets his share of mice, but he has a different hunting method... Sit and stare for hours until a mouse comes.

Heh. My kitty won't let me sleep in.
Let's see....on the agenda today.... Paint the fence and mow the yard. Hopefully it'll be the last mow of the season. Maybe I should wash TheSunroom doors too.

Well, we're back. Beautiful crisp clear morning. Numerous birdies to flush out of bushes and squirrels to stare at up in the trees.
Chili cook off in downtown today. Got a couple streets blocked off and tents are up. MMMM. Chili. May need to walk downtown and see what's available. Smells like it could be some good chili there. Hope they don't think there is supposed to hamburger and tomatoes in it.
LSA has decided it's time for my odd year trip to the mall/shopping center thingy. Sigh. I got a new pair of pants on my last trip. They're not wore out yet...sigh.

The Halvah alarm only goes off when I roll over for the first time. After that, there's no going back to sleep...no matter how early it is.
But I guess I didn't do that today.

I'm an equal opportunity chili consumer. I like everything from Cincinatti style to what I guess is the more traditional chili...friend of mine in the military used to make it. He just used meat (NOT hamburger...usually cubed beef), peppers, onions(? I think), and the broth, as I recall. VEY hot, and veyyyyy good with fresh cornbread.
