Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yah, really...
I think I'm pretty much on top of this SOX thing, though. This year is turning out (so far... knock on wood) quite a bit better than last year.
The key is scoping. Anything that you can put out of scope, you can forget about testing. I'm getting better and better at arguing for more and more stuff being out of scope. After a while, you get down to having precious little left *in* scope. Bang. Done.
I should consult on this stuff. :-) There's a buck to be made.

Hey there!
Jesse... the beertender... Is treating me well. It's really odd to be on a first name basis with a bartender in an airport, not even in my home town. I've known him for about seven years now. Hundreds of hours spent here over the years. Jesse has a son that the worries about. The kid was trouble... but plays high school football now and keeping his nose clean. Moving off to college soon. Got to hear the whole story in real time.
Captions in life. Everybody's got a story.
I think I'd rather be a bartender. :-)

I think I'd rather be a bartender. :-)You've got a calling there.
But you'd have to be tending bar on or near the ocean or it wouldn't be ~just right~.

If the bartender knows who you are... maybe it's time to find a new bar. Or something.
Mmm, Friday night! Going to a geek-party later. And I have a whole bag full of antique SF from the library sale. Mmm... fifties cover art...

Yah. Games and such. I made cookies.
Just got through fawning over my new collection. 11 books, $8.50, all SF from 1937 to 1985, with most of it written between 1955 and 1970. Loooovely.
I have a half-formed plan in my mind of a website devoted to cover art from SF books through the decades. Some of that art is just wonderful. Especially from the 50s and 70s.

She took off for the party, so she'll hafta answer when she gets back.
Aaaaaand...once again I'm alone on a Friday night with nothin' much to do. Listening to my entire music collection in random mode, which I guess is somewhat entertaining. Just went from Pancho and Lefty to a drum solo / bagpipe medley by a kinda Scottish rock group, and now it's Louis Armstrong doing "Rockin' Chair".

It's really odd to be on a first name basis with a bartender in an airport, not even in my home town One of the ladies in my favorite little jewelry shop in NM asked me, "You're local aren't you?" To which I answered, "More or less." I buy little baubles there - silver and semi-precious stones appeal to the rock hound in me. They give me the "local" discount so I can't complain. ;)
