Ew, you can have Russell Crowe. He has too much nasty in his eyes, IMO

Understood :D :D Ive become impressed with how he takes on a part...I dont see that in a whole lot of other actors out there.

Just wish that with as much thought as he puts into his craft, he would put into dealing with people. Cant go through life scaring people and expect happiness and peace.

I'm not one who boycotts movies because of the actors in them. But I also don't have screen-crushes on characters played by certain actors who creep me out. Crowe is one. Nicholas Cage is another.

I can understand the creep-out factor with Cage, but why Crowe?

I agree with Rosie, Fillion is a good candidate for the new Harrison Ford, at least for Han Solo-ish roles.

I don't know. Han was a LOT more laid back. We would have to see if he has playful roguish side.

I like Cage... But I don't find Crowe attractive at all. ;~D

It's just something in his manner. He seems like the sort of guy who just isn't safe to be around. Not in a good way either. I enjoy him in movies but there's always something... dark... in him.

Fair enough, JenB!

And agreed on NIcholas Cage, although I did enjoy National Treasure. Was pleasantly surprised at how DECENT it was, inasfar as it was the kind of movie I could let Erin watch...and she loves it.

As for screen-crushes...I have rare opportunity to fantasize and would think myself DEAD if I didnt enjoy a giggle or two. And its less about Crowe himself than it is the characters he plays. I really couldnt care less about HIM per se. But the characters he's played in the past I have been very impressed with. I just say that as someone who has spent her whole life dabbling in theatre.

As for Jack Aubrey, have always said I had a liking for that character from the BOOKS before I ever saw the film, or had any idea of how Crowe would play him. After all the hoopla of LOTR (and as much of a fan as I am, after a while All Tolkien All The Time wore me out...especially after having some friends who did nothing but GUSH and GUSH about certain things...) I was glad to find something completely different and immerse myself in that for a while.

I really wish I had been aware of those books when I was working for that marine survey company...would have helped me appreciate a few things more...

Do you know who Im talking about in Stargate Atlantis, Joe Flannagan? Everytime I watch that show, I want him to do that crooked half smile and say he doesnt believe in the Force or any of that religious hocus-pocus...

Dang! We were hoping to see the Narnia or the Goblet of Fire trailers, but didn't see either one.

I was told by Yahoo that I couldn't make anyone else a Moderator of the Yahoo homeschool group. I'm a Moderator, but I'm not the 'Owner'. Is there some way around that?

Oh, I think Nathan Fillion is a much better replacement for Harrison Ford than Russell Crowe, but then I'm thinking of the 'Han Solo' part. ;o)

Looks like they might almost get things right. I love those books.

Did you know that Douglas Gresham, C. S. Lewis's step-son, is working with the producers to make sure the movies are done as closely to the books as possible?

The only way is if the woman that was the owner made someone else a moderator with the privilege. Then that person could give you the privilege.

She's dead, right? The homeschool egroup owner?

Nah, Flanagan is OK, but Nathan Fillion has just the right amount of smart-a$$-ness to do the 'Han Solo' roles.

Oh would never think Crowe would replace Ford as far as Han Solo is concerned...I just joke about how Ford is no longer an actor I care to follow because I have been so impressed with what I have seen of Crowe's films (my personal jury is still out on the actor himself...not really sure I want to give it much thought, considering...) Ford however has gone all weird though...and an Indy 4? Puhleeez!! I can do without another Indy.

Have you see the "Firefly" episodes yet?

Yeah, I'd heard that. Gresham has been very protective of Lewis' legacy. Glad they're consulting him.
