Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

"The Muppets Do Troy" would be fun!
Ah, nothing like forgetting to set an alarm and oversleeping on Monday morning. Ah well.

Well, that's a good question. Likely, while the jedis are still needing me around...I'll just be available for local needs (tornadoes, ice storms, ect.) When they get older and more independent in their schoolwork, I could go for longer periods of time to national needs. Then, when they've flown the coop, I'm free to go where-ever. The disaster relief people were some of the first on the scene after the tsunami.

I was curious if you had any ability to leave now.... I didn't think you would, without Steve having to stay home.

That's right. I won't be able to go on long calls till the jedis can stay by themselves...so several years. But local (state-wide) calls I can do, because I can help out on the weekends.

See this
picture?I have a cap just like it except mine says Oklahoma instead of Kansas/Nebraska. When you complete the training, you get a cap. When you go on your first call, you get the tee-shirt. This really is a uniform and you're not supposed to wear it casually...only when you are on a call. Red Cross and federal agencies recognize it.
I also will get a badge with my picture on it...it comes in the mail, though.

Funny how it got started...buncha Baptist men in Texas were cub scout leaders back in the 60s and had their scouts make a bunch of buddy burners. Then a hurricane hit and the men took the buddy burners down to the beach and started using them to feed people who needed help. It's just grown from there and is now nation-wide.

Okay, I'm late...
Did the personal trainer thing, when to thegym. But was slightly late getting to the office 'cause I had to go by the post office. Remembered on my way in the door at 8:55 that I had a flu shot scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Found out at the same time that a meeting that I thought was at 10:30 was moved to 9:00 (and I wasn't informed). On top of that there was NO COFFEE. Fortunately, I'd had some on the way in, but still needed more (which I now have).
So, that said, I'm behind on the news. Tell me:
1) What am I supposed to think about Harriet Miers? I ain't readin' the thread yet.
2) What tantrums should I see or avoid?
36 days until the election and I'm stuck here in the White City not knowing the fate of the ringbearer...

1) What am I supposed to think about Harriet Miers? I ain't readin' the thread yet. The uncertainty itself is grounds for utter and complete panic. Post any worry that pops into your head, and threaten to never vote for a Republican again.
Heh.... I have to go now.... let me know how it turns out. ;~D

I don't know. I don't venture out of the Hole very often. Only time this morning was to see what the deal was with the guy that blew himself up in Norman.

Ouch, what a morning... I woke up 45 minutes late in a horrible panic, because I hadn't set my alarm. Realized it didn't really matter. Realized I didn't have any cold sodas, which did matter. Fought for bus space. Have been greeted by two incomprehensible user requests and a note from another deparment saying they're being attacked by one of our machines. And FR's gone mad.
Can I go back to bed?

Can I go back to bed? I have my personal trainer's permission to do just that. After my results this morning he asked if I'd been getting enough rest...
