New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Oh... sorry to hear that. :-(
Evenin' folkses... have had a fun weekend of generally goofing off.
I'm finally getting around to trying to post some pictures I took. Gimme a minute while I figgure this out...
Well, I've been off having conversations with less pleasant folk...
Glad to be back :~D
No biggie. I'll take some Nyquil in about a half-hour and then wait for it to do its magic. *wink*
I'm glad you had some fun on this business trip. ;-)
Waiting patiently for pics...
:)
"mine"
You really shouldn't wander around out there. It's just not safe.
Ah - it's safe, they're crabby, but mostly harmless. :~D
But it makes you get all het up, that's not so good.
You think I'm all het up now? Should I relax?
Good! Now..."mellowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww......."
Take two deep, cleansing breaths and think about fuzzie bunnies...
Seriously, why must you go to such places...tsk, tsk...
must be bush's fault
(runs) (hides)
The pictures are resized real small. Hope they work OK.
Just leaving the Hotel... that's it on the right.
Oracle Headquarters... Larry Ellison's place. there's dozens of buildings just like this in the Oracle campus. Note that they are designed to look like computer hard drive spindles and platters.
Hwy 101... There's a city up there in the fog... uh oh...
City Hall. Funny how 101 just dumps out on downtown city streets. Then picks up again just before the bridge.
Approaching the bridge. Honest. It's right there.
On the bridge. Honest. :-) Just my luck... can't see a dang thing.
Vista Park on the north side. There's a bridge there... someplace.
There's a walkway under the bridge... It was really creepy. Clatters and bangs with traffic right overhead.
The walkway hangs from the roadbed... it banged and clattered and ~moved~ and shook all over.
I'm not sure... but I think this is the main west coast telco/internet trunk into San Fran. Those cable bundles are about 6in in diameter.
Another shot from Vista park. Hey... there's water down there. :-)
Out in Sausalito where I stopped for a little lunch. Had a "Certified organic ground beef sandwich." Anybody else would have called it a cheeseburger.
I don't know a lot about geology, but I can tell that there's a lot of it going on here.
Looking down on Vista Park from the other side, from Battery Spencer.
Battery Spencer. They had 12in artillery pieces.
ahah!! The bridge from the top of Battery Spencer.
Same view. Two minutes later. All gone.
You are here. On the little orange dot with an arrow.
Looking down at the Pacific from the battery.
Crossing back over... you can almost see the bridge this time.
Coming soon to a bridge near me... TOLL BOOTHS... :-(
That's Saturday. Did some other stuff today.
A ship in the harbor is safe. But that's not what ships are for. :-)
Wow! That is some ~series~ fog!
And you've got some guts taking a stroll under the bridge. The fact that it ~moved~ would have freaked me out!
What did you do today? Gone to Alcatraz yet? I really recommend it.
Still working the kinks out of my arms...three out of five kids at today's cookout prefer me as a swing-pusher.
Well, it was a regular public trail that led under there... but it was really freaky that it bounced and moved all over the place. It was also *really* loud, what with bhe BANG BANG CLATTER SLAM type noises of vehicles hitting steel plates RIGHT overhead.
Frankly... I'm surprised they let the general public get that close to the structure of the bridge.
Yeah, but remember that one that capsized at the dock in Albany last year?
The Swing is at the end of a 50-foot rope.
I find the best technique is to grab the swinger by the feet and pull 'em up (as Joseph is doing here), let 'em go and then push 'em on the rebound.
Also fun is to grab the rope's end sticking out of that knot and turn in a tight circle, causing the swinger to go 'round instead of in an arc.
In both cases the trick is to avoid the swinger contacting the tree trunk :)
Me too. Seems an inviting target.
I've chugged my Nyquil, so let's see how long before I pass out on the keyboard.
