Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

and some guy saying "Da da da" here and there.Yep, that was a different commercial. I actually have an MP3 of that song, BTW.
The commercial I mentioned featured the actress who later played Nina Myers in the TV series "24"... would have been the year 2000, I think.

Isn't he cute? :-D
OH! BTW, I meant to tell everyone that one of my hermit crabs managed to climb out of the glass tank. I found him perched on top of the cover.
Don't ask me how he did it because there's nothing in there that looks high enough for him to reach the opening in the back of the cover.

I hear badgers when there's no badger there....
To: RMDupree
Crafty little devils, those crabs. :-)
You must have summa them there Venezuelan Jumping Crabs.
Speaking of rats... I got to hunt some rat this weekend. Was big fun. Quick little bugger though... Had a good clear still shot, hit just where I wanted... but after the shot there was no dead rat. I think maybe I was pushing the range on the .357 snakeshot a little too much. He was about 12 feet away, and that's pushing the limit on snakeshot. Next time I think I'll just go with the silvertips. :-)

By 2000 I was TV-less in Vermont...don't think I ever saw that one.
Haven't seen 24, either.
If I ever get a job, we want to get Netflix.

I just finished season one of 24. I think I already talked about that. But it really ticked me off.
Nina. dammit. That's just wrong.

Yikes! Rats? Where?
And no 24 spoilers from past seasons, except the last one.
I'm determined to rent the first 3 seasons in the near future.
Or in the far future. I dunno yet. ;-)

For a regular badger, yes. But for a werebadger?
To: Ramius; RosieCotton
Ha, found it! See the commercial
here. There's a seperate audio track though... make sure just the video is playing. I had the video sound and the separate audio track playing simultaneously, slightly out-of-sync (ironically enough) and it sounded really weird.

Rats... in the hillside next door. They've burrowed into the hill. We've taken to shooting at them when they venture over our way. For a time they got into the crawlspace, but we seem to have chased them back out of there for now.
Norway rats. Big 'uns.

...and no, I won't spoil 24. I haven't yet, even with what I've said.
But it still pi$$es me off. Rassafrackin' plot twists. :-)

Oh, they're not so bad. Just really big mice. Relatively clean critters, as critters go. Not a huge problem. But I don't want them inside the house.
Now... raccoons... they're another matter altogether. Mean little b@$tards. And *really* big... and will really mess up a cat or dog.
One time I woke up to a crashing sound outside my window... went rushing out toward the porch, .45 in hand, only to find that my "intruder" was a raccoon standing there all brave and stupid... just looking at me as I pointed they gun at him only five or so feet away. I just went back inside. No sense messing up the porch over a stupid raccoon. :-)
Only so long as they don't make a habit of it.
