Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Remember how nuts things got around here in 99? In the lead-up to "Y2K" things got positively *brutal*.Then there's the badgers...

I'll agree that the moderators do a great job here, but I do think that we've become a lot less civil and a lot more nasty.
We've still got a ways to go before becoming like DU, but we're definitely headed that way if folks don't learn to debate rather than attack.
That said, I have visited DU once. Once was enough.

I was afraid of that. Better than the dancing chipmunks or the dancing baby et al. Sorta.

You know I hauled that old dryer out on to the street and someone came and got it?
I did the same thing with the old microwave and it's gone now too!
Just posted it in the FreeCycle egroup and wah-lah!

Yah. It's true. There is less civility. Tempers are quicker to flare, for some reason. There should be some reason for that and I'm not sure I know what it is.

Okay, remember when I was having trouble with Tripod not allowing me to get to my site(s) to edit them?
Now I can't get to my account management page to edit my membership. I need to transfer the pool site. But everytime I try to go to the account page it times out on me.
Suggestions? I turned off the firewall and tried it, that didn't help.

Old clothes? That's what Rose said it meant too.
I guessed it was an idiom with a similar meaning to "comfort food".

A lot of the forms weren't complete, and I could only enter what I had, sooo. I kinda feel like I did a lousy job, but I guess I did the best I could. This is the story of my life...
I'm sure you did a good job.
