The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Arrrrgh, so it be!

I got a nice sleep-in, I am working late today so I don't have to go in until closer to noon. Nice! I can do a weight routine and cook a nice lunch and be not-rushed!

Of course I'll get home and go to bed, oh well.

Well, again, my speaking up has caused others to speak up and now people are voicing opposition. This has been going on for a couple of days and I finally had to say something and now everyone else is chiming in.

So I'm glad I finally spoke up...it seems this has been on other people's minds as well.

People are like sheep; they need a bellwether, a leader, to do something first and then they're willing to do it too.

Whew! I finally got around to scrubbing the tub. I've been meaning to do it for ages but I don't have time in the morning and at night I'm not interested. There were some nasty spots high up on the wall that I was worried might be mold or something but they came off with a little scrubbing so maybe not.

Be careful scrubbing, didn't you injure your ribs!?? Take advil...only the recommended dosage and no alcohol with it!! ;-D

I hate to scrub the tub too...been thinking of getting one of those scrubbing wands. It just makes my back ache!

I wonder if someday I'll be the leader of BA CHEF? It seems like I could do it...but then again, I'm pretty savvy at getting information out (egroup, newsletter) so maybe that's just where I"m supposed to be...

They don't hurt too much today and I only spent ten minutes on it. It's been really bugging me.

Now time to fix a huge omelet since I don't expect to get to eat again until 9.

I'd vote for you as Leader! Tell you what, when I take over the world I'll make you Homeschool Coordinater of Doom.

I love the new microwave! It's so fancy!

Our old broken microwave, that was over the stove, was 20 years old...my old countertop "apartment-size" microwave is probably older than that!

The kids are amazed when the new microwave pops a bag of popcorn in 2:10 minutes! LOL They stand in the kitchen with their mouths hanging open in astonishment.

Nope. Because after the first hurricane I'd have relocated to Nebraska.

And if one struck there, you'd ~know~ it was personal.

My brother lives in Houston and my parents live north in College Station. I imagine he'll take his family and stay with my parents.
