Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hehehe....for some reason, I was thinking about Humphrey Bogart talking to Edward G Robinson in Key Largo. "You don't like the hurricane, do you? Why don't you wave your gun at it and show it what a big man you are." (or something to that effect.)

Heh...yep!
Found the actual quote on IMDB...pretty close.
Frank McCloud: You don't like it, do you Rocco, the storm? Show it your gun, why don't you? If it doesn't stop, shoot it.

Hmmmm......I'll have to watch that movie again sometime, although it was a wussy hurricane. Didn't even have a storm surge coming through the door...didn't even wreck the boat.

I've never seen that film.
I'll have to look for it the next time I get to a video store.

Huh...you're right! I never knew that.
It's been a reallllly long time since I saw either "Key Largo" or any episodes of the Lone Ranger.

Evening everyone!
Let's see:
Roommate sicker than nine cats
Roommate's weekend plans with fiancee shot
My plans (with roommate being out of town) shot
Roommate's fiancee constantly over to "nurse" him...and brings her kids
Kids shouldn't be around sick roommate
Looks like I get to make some new weekend plans. Yay me.

BTW, here they are.

Best wishes on the job search.
We're expecting a surge in manufacturing, with associated icreases in support positions, during the next year.
Dunno if it's true; comes out of the Dem Gov's office, doncha know.

Cute pic, XGI!
I'm gonna call it a night, everyone. Becky has finally gone to bed.
We cut a cake for her tonight so the sugar-induced rush had them stay up later than normal.
Believe it or not, Aly is still up. :-P
I'm gonna turn off the lights and get her to sleep now.
Nighty night Hobbit Hole!

I'm trying to remember... no, I don't think I've seen Key Largo yet. But anything with Bogey in it is worth a try.
I just bought the first season set of 24 on DVD. I'd only ever seen one episode and always managed to miss it, so it was the only way I could catch up.
Dang... it's addictive. Gotta watch it all straight through. Started on the airplane. Then lost lots of sleep at the hotel. "Well... maybe just *one* more..."
[sigh]

Clare was 9 months old when we went tent camping for the last time. I got tired of cooking and cleaning up by hauling stuff back and forth to the van. We bought a pop up camper, and our only requirement was that it had a 3 burner stove. We wanted to have a place available to keep a pot of coffee on. We liked it, but it just got to be too much like 'work' when we went camping. We sold it when Joseph was about 8.
We are now 'of an age' that we prefer hotels to campgrounds. ;o)
