The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They are cute, but they do startle you when they haul butt up the wall by your head. *laughing*

Everytime I walk up to my front door, all sizes of lizards skitter across the pathway. They don't bother me at all.

But when they're in the house, they surprise me. :-D

That sucks, doesn't it?

I loved that show. ~sigh~

Who's left alive now? I know the Skipper passed away years ago and Mr. Howell too. Is the Professor still around?

Evening - I would think you'd want to know if the contract was for 'up to three months' or for 'three months'. Bear probably knows more questions from the contract end of things.

What he told me is that they need an extra tech for a bit due to some projects that are going on, and would start with a 90 day contract, which might be slightly extended, but he emphasized that it would *not* by any means be permanent, period. He was very clear that it'd be over by early next year at the latest and that it was *not* a chance it would become permanent.

I dunno that I did well enough that I'd be offered the position anyhow. I'm still really, really hoping for the other. It was more comfortable, for one, and I could bus or ride a bike, which to me is important. I really dislike driving, and with the prices where they are...that's a hugh factor, too.

We occasionally get one that will hang on the outside of a window, I guess to catch moths and bugs attracted by the light.

They love doing that, the little buggers.

The bigger ones will run across the window screen and catch a housefly. They are quick!

All of the contracts I've done allow you to leave with one week's notice as a courtesy, but some people don't even give that much. It's generally understood by the contract agency that if you have a chance at something permanent you'll take it.

We should create a new tradition of seeking out his headstone and walking up and smacking it with a captain's hat. :-)

Realizing that Dante would have added another layer if PowerPoint had been created at the time...

What's my best purchasing option? And is 2003 the latest version? Wife needs it for school.

2003 should be the latest. Any chance she can get an 'educator' discount or something of that sort through school?

Yes, 2003 is the latest version. Go to eBay and look for an Educational copy, since it's for school.
