The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

And thanks!

That's a horrible fire. The whole place is a total loss. Some fine boats in there. Very sad.

If it was Michigan, it would be an insurance scam.

Well, I won't mind one more time...we've only seen it once because I refused to pay that much again.

I'll be glad when the DVD comes out though...

Rick, I need a name...maybe someone you've struck up a friendship with...that I can send these cards to. Someone that can pass them out. Any thoughts on someone who would like a bunch of Christmas cards from a pack of Christian Homeschoolers?

The Renegades will be in the 'stan at Christmas. Would that do?

I don't know. It is a temporary situation. The parent may need to get permission from LA for them to be homeschooled elsewhere, if it has not already been done. However, I do not think the aunt necessarily needs to get permission from her state.

LOL, I told elfboy that he could not see Episode III again until it came to the dollar theater (actually it's $1.50 daily, and half-price for everyone on Tuesdays).

We saw it in the regular theater once, and I will NOT spend that much money to see it again.

It sounded as though the kids were being homeschooled by their Grandmother in Mississippi. It was kind of confusing because the poster mentioned New Orleans, too, but said that the kids were in a shelter because of the storm, and their mother didn't want them to have to stay there for the next couple of months.

The requirements for homeschooling in MS are not particularly stringent, I don't think, and I believe they'd already done what they needed to do to get it going. So most folks just said 'go for it'!

Our old Renegades????

Sorry, this is another Renegades. Nicknames are often used by different units at the same time. These are the AH-64 "Renegades".

No kidding, go for it. The kids in southern MS or New Orleans who go to public school won't be at school for awhile anyway. If MA has a problem with kids being out of shcool, all she has to say is that they are visiting relatives from Katrina's wake.

So they fly Apaches?

Tell me more! I'll want to be able to tell the kids as much as I can...

Freepmail it if that would be better...

gov Blanco is doing media conference regarding the looting in Noew Orleans.

She is really expressing herself. She *sounds* ticked off. I don't see how she can follow throughwith her promises of law and order though.

LOL, price of gas down there is $2.35 per gallon at the Walmart station in Hattiesburg. I am jealous!

I saw two stations today with $2.80 per gallon on the way home from choir.

Last I heard, she was waiting for the Feds to send in the National Guard....then they'll be sorry! /s
