Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh...remember that reporter on the Outer Banks that lost his pants on TV when Isabel hit?
Glenn Beck and Stu are cracking jokes about the hurricane. He's gone over the edge and I'm done with him.
There's a time for gallows humor. This ain't it.

I'm here! I'm alive!!
We finally got power back yesterday. Had to get everything settled and straightened out. I'm at work this morning and there is TONS of backlog to wade through. :-/
The DSL is dead at my house, so I may have to go back to dial-up until it gets workin' again.
Figures.
And thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. I'll admit that I was scared out of my wits when I realized that the eye was passing through.
I lost power before I saw the southward turn, but the radio stayed on during the storm and we stayed up all night watching out for tornadoes.
Half the shingles on my roof are gone, but no serious damage besides the fence.
OH! And the mourning doves came through just fine! They were preening themselves on what was left of the fence the following morning! :-D
Prayers for Louisiana! I'll be back when I get through the brunt of the work on my desk.

hehehehe...
I'm so thankful that it was just a Cat1. With no shutters and little preparation, we would have been in VERY big trouble had it been stronger.
I'm feeling so sorry for the folks in LA. This storm is a slow mover - she takes her time about destroying things.
Just praying for minimal loss of life. Loss of property is unavoidable, but that's all replaceable.

I know it's verrrry small peanuts in the midst of everything...but I'd really appreciate prayers this afternoon for the job interview. It's at 1 o'clock Mountain Time.
