My public high school biology text book sells the THEORY of evolution as fact

Posted on 08/05/2005 10:09:22 PM PDT by Kazul

I just got my school books yesterday. My bio book, Biology: Concepts and Conections, talks about the theory of evolution as if it's not theory, or ever was. Did I miss something? Did someone prove it true?

I don't care in any fanatical way whether or not evolution is true. Whatever you believe, if a school science book presents a theory as if it's true, isn't that a problem? If I did miss the proof, what is it?

On a related note, my text book says "Evolution is biology's core theme." Huh? Isn't the core theme of biology how living things work?

Perhaps I'm being paranoid. I have a nagging feeling this is bad.

Oh, I think it might get even worse... I'm smelling something, myself.

my biology book in high school (and college) presented it the same way.

And high school was 18 years ago.

You are not paranoid, how is the art work? Do they still include pictures of the progression of ape to man?

Just bring it up in the middle of class and ask why they have a book like that.

It isn't too surprising...any major textbook will present it as fact. Just bring up the issue in class.

The evo's will jump all over you because you're so stupid that you didn't know it was a "SCIENTIFIC FACT". They love these threads because they get to play condescending scientist head games and it gives them someting to do with their extra chat time. Ping Patrick Henry and he will fill you in on how stupid you are.

Welcome to FR!

per you home page, I can help with pictures.

Type this < img src="http://news.google.com/news?imgefp=GQqWdx0oicAJ&imgurl=a123.g.akamai.net/f/123/12465/1d/media.canada.com/cp/world/20050805/w080514a.jpg">

without the space in between the < and the img.

Also, the picture needs to be one that is already on the Internet. Not just on your computer.

Well Hillary just crawled from some "soup" and then had the audacity to speak. Well I would like to think that we can KILL any thing that would say such a untruth. KILL KILL KILL

The theory of relativity is just a theory too. Of course no one has ever document any physical phenomemon inconsistent with its predictions.

No. They have an orca, a pangolin, and three drawn pictures of beetles. And a portriat of Darwin.

You don't have to believe in evolution to study the idea. Pay attention to the scientific methods used to describe evolution and look for the holes. Most of the big holes are in the math, random mutations can't happen in an organized way. Biology is a fun subject, enjoy it; just don't believe everything you read.

I agree. But it doesn't say it's a theory. Maybe this is residue from my "always back it up with facts" science teacher...

Just another way that the liberal agenda is striving to remove God from anywhere and everywhere.

Going on 25 years here, my text books presented it the same way.
