Underwood, Martin Are Sexiest Vegetarians

1 hour, 58 minutes ago

If only Bo Bice had cut down on the ribs. Carrie Underwood, who beat out Bice to win the "American Idol" crown in May, was voted the "World's Sexiest Vegetarian" in PETA's annual online poll. She shares the honor with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

More than 13,000 votes were cast in the contest run by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the animal rights group announced Tuesday.

Underwood, a 22-year-old Oklahoma native, wore a "V for Vegetarian" T-shirt on the Fox show. Martin, 28, and his wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, made headlines when they gave their 1-year-old daughter, Apple, a vegan birthday cake.

Underwood and Martin beat out other famous veggie lovers including David Duchovny, Reese Witherspoon, Avril Lavigne, Joaquin Phoenix and Prince.

Last year, Andre 3000 of OutKast and Alicia Silverstone won the "sexiest vegetarian" title. Other previous winners include Tobey Maguire, Lauren Bush and Shania Twain.

I don't think either of us is full of hate, actually.

Please remember:

Not every conservative is a Christian.
Not every conservative eats meat.
Not every tofu-eating vegetarian is a communist.
Not every non-Christian is anti-Christian.

Brainless Freepers who live in a fantasy land believe these things because they are mentally lazy and compensate for some personal lack with bigotry.

I've been the target of their irrationality too often, and NEVER back from a fight. So, perhaps I came on to you too harshly. For that I apologize.

It's a big world. Hillary Clinton and her flying monkeys are ready to pounce on us all. We need to stick together.

I submit to you that every non-christian is anti-chriatian.
I didn't make that up on my own, but believe it because I believe the bible to be Gods Word.
Luke 11:23 "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters.
Other than that I am glad to have you as part of the conservative movement, as long as you stick to conservatism. We have MUCH common ground and it is a shame we got off on the wrong foot. I apologize for my poor attitude that contributed to our schizm.

Please don't take this personally, but it's this dual attitude of exclusivity and moral self-righteousness which makes evangalism so unattractive to most people. You're religion is NOT the only religion, except to yourself. Always keep in mind that faith is feeling, not knowledge, regardless of what you might want to believe (and I'm not an atheist, by any means).

Again, I'm NOT anti-Christian, regardless of how you want to interpret that badly interpreted book. I AM anti-bigotry, which is the underpinning of modern evangalism. Thinking all the time that one is superior and right whereupon everyone else is wrong leads to unhappiness and is just plain wrong. I've got friends in the charismatic movement who are some of the most disgruntled and unhappy people I've ever met, and I always feel so sorry for them. They, too, are compensating for something in their lives with feelings of superiority, self-righteousness, and exclusivity.

Please, again, don't take all that personally. I've been on this earth for over half a century now, most of it in the midst of extremely religious people, and one can measure the degree of their personality weaknesses proportionally to their religious fervor.

I have no idea where you are getting your "theories" from, but I am being very clear where my "theories" are derived. I do know that the majority around here are in my camp, and that we will all find out who is correct in the end, won't we?

Nothing personal at all, I didn't make my "theories" up on my own, I simply repeat what the Good Book says. No "fervor, I just believe it, is all. I am not superior in any way, in fact I am a jackass for the most part, but I am a jackass that is saved by grace and believes Gods Word

Some food for thought:

Proverbs 14:12
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1 John 5:12
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

=========================================

The bible testifies to it's own exlusivity. I don't believe I am superior, I believe Jesus is Superior. It is human nature to want to be god, or be our own god, or earn our own way to heaven, but the bible makes that impossible.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Anyways, sorry about all the thumping. Just letting you know where I am coming from. Christianity says that we are all sinners that need to be redeemed, and that Jesus sacrifice on the cross accomplished that.
Every other religion says you earn your own way, and that in the end if your good works outweighs the bad you will be accepted by God.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Since we're quoting scripture:

Warchild 11:11..."Jesus freak = kook"

ha ha...interesting.

You know in the book I have...there are names for unbelievers too.

One used frequently is fool.

"Kook", huh? Must be a more modern book you have. ha ha

I'll wear the label of kook proudly, but how can you say such things with conviction and at the same time say you are not anti-christian? The two do not reconcile.
It would seem that you believe it is only ok to be a Christian as long as you don't believe the very documents it is based upon or act upon them. That does not work because:

Revelation 3:15-16 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

You keep referring to your loved ones opinions, but it would seem they are steering you off a cliff.

Quoting the bible to you seems to be what the bible refers to as "casting pearls before swine."

So I will take your "kook" and raise you a "fool" and a "swine".

The Warchild books says: "Someone whose only arguments are Bible quotations are living in fantasy land."

It's a big world out here, Manic. Try exploring it.

Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

I've been out there, I didn't like it too well. I'm just passing through.

With all due respect, I think you may be a tad of a sanctimonious ex-hunter.

Drop the "sanctimonious part," and you get the prize! I'm a proud ex-hunter!

But tell me, why is shrill, demented, masculine hollering in defense of killing for fun an acceptable thing on FR, when my sort of subversive defense of all life considered evil? Is it the same sort of thinking which condemns the intolerant, shouting down of dissidence on liberal websites while supporting the intolerant, shouting down of dissidence on FR?

Mr. Manic, your #49 is the most reasonable thing you've said.

I might even apologize for teasing you.

I ain't into that either, FWIW. But as a meat-eater, I don't consider myself "lower" than anyone. Just like, as an ex-smoker, I'm not above anyone who still smokes.

Ex-smoker means I tried it a couple times in high school, btw. Even inhaled a couple times!

You can be a very healthy, normal looking vegan...you just have to approach it with intelligence and KNOW what you're doing.

Half my siblings are vegan and my neice is being raised vegan. And she's as healthy as they come.

I've been vegan/vegetarian, but in my line of work, I'm expected to eat or at least taste everything that patients/clients are served, so it's easier just to eat everything :)

I've NEVER said anything against people who eat meat. If I did, the Mrs. would have to be grouped into said category, and I'm not crossing her for anything.

And, yes, I have a reputation for trolling. Wasn't here, though.

LOL!

I have to agree. I'd rather try everything than refuse most everything!

On a serious note, is it still hard to eat meat products having been a vegan/vegetarian?

I've noticed that as I've cut back on meat products, I've gotten a lot pickier about which ones I do eat. If the flavor or texture is off, I feel kinda grossed out...even if the meat is cooked well.
