I was just sitting here thinking about a 1500 mile drive I have to make, and contemplating burning a couple CDS for the drive. I found some music that would make it more interesting but not enough. So here is the question.
If you were going to drive from Phoenix to Indy, you were in a sports car, what music would you want to have on your cd?
No. Maybe I'll do that this weekend. On Saturday night my guy and I usually listen to music all night long. Might have to throw that in. Thanks.
Canon in D...............Pachelbel
Air for G................Bach
Adagio for Strings.......Barber
Meditation From Thais....Massenet
Violin Concerto in D.....Mendohlson
The Soldier's Return.....from God's and Generals
Pathetique...............Beethoven
Hector the Hero..........Skinner......Denver Brass does it best
William Tell Overture....Rossini
1812 Overture............Tchaikovsky
Fanfare for the Common Man...Copeland
Emperor's Waltz....Strauss
Flight of the Valkyries..Wagner
Ein Klein Nachtmuzik.....Mozart
to name a few...
now where did that orch dork thread go?
Mine, either! Its One of These Days, on "Meddle" from '71..
I have seen it and you are right, it's breathtaking. Wish I owned it but I can't find it anywhere.
I'm going to see if I can find it online..if I do I'll freepmail ya :)
1. Claude Bolling Trio, Suite for flute and jazz piano
2. Aretha, Live at the Fillmore West
3. Stones, Beggar's Banquet
Happy motoring!
I always take Best of Jimi Hendrix. Van Morrison, Jim Morrison (Doors) and just for laughs: some Slim Whitman just in case I have to go thru Roswell N.M. and encounters some space aliens. Never can be too prepared you know!
Further down in New Mexico you might pull out some Freddy Fender or Los Lobos.
That would be awesome! Thanks :)
Soundtracks: Big Chill, Forrest Gump, Garden State, Charley's Angels #2, Oceans 12, wild at Heart
CDs: Dire Straights, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raite, Santana
Last stretch of the highway: Techno!
Soundtrack to " The Empire Strikes Back", Van Halen's -" Dreams", " High Enough"-Damn Yankees and Josh Groban and Celine Dion when you want to relax.
I'm a big fan of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" album for driving.
ah, stevie ray! Hard to drive while bumping and grinding!
LOL.....
"Texas Cookin" bump
Live in Chicago, by Luther Allison. Absolutely scorching (and musical) electric blues guitar.
Bleed Like Me, by Garbage. Their recent album, very creative and great for high volume while driving.
Some times it is good to have a little Lyle Lovett and some Robert Earl Keene Jr., just to get through the day!
I burn my own mixes from an endless supply of tracks and have several CD volumes. Load them into the CD changer sequentially and you have several hours of perfect material sans the crappy filler that take up space on many electronica sets you can buy on CD. Though a couple commercial sets (e.g. Armin Van Buuren's stuff) are pretty nice...
