Without naming names, there a two major contractors on this program - The Great Big One (TGBO), and the Ones Who Do Things (OWDT).

TGBO answers the mail to THE CLIENT; OWDT actually performs the work.

I work for OWDT.

For instance, I needed a bit of coverage for some employees - TGBO said can you help with a tricky project. I said, sure - give me money, and I will fix it. TGBO gave me authorization for about 1,000 hours of labor.

A week later, OWDT gave TGBO the answer, and charged 40 hours of labor.

Today, I sat through a meeting of TGBO accountants - they accused me of everything from plagerism to lying, insisting no one could perform a thousand hours of work in 40 hours.

I replied, "It is a computer - try turning it on."

What it really comes down to - is that I am not paid to follow rules.

I am paid to get things done.

And, in accordance with policy, law, etc. - I get my *ss chewed for breaking rules.

And bonuses for getting things done.

Now, on the down side - if I overdo it, they have every exscuse in the world to fire me on a moments notice (he broke all the rules! we warned him!).

On the upside, I really don't care. I would be perfectly happy to compete with my current employer.

Not any more - they got burned too many times.

I give on this nomination - I have been reading everything I could find about him, and I have no idea who he is.

Ask me in five years.

Poor babies!!!!

I'm pretty much staying out of the nomination discussions...........the rabid right-to-life people have totally turned me off. As I said on one of the Virginia campaign threads, they have totally succeeded in removing the issue from my radar screen.

Hey - given your acetelene torch, my excess motors, and our combined electronic skills - I bet Gabz could do some fun things. Actually, I bet she could enter orbit.

LOL.
