BTW, how are you feeling?
Back is better tonight...my son came over and cut the grass for me...I have to be well enough to chase Brandon around over the weekend....don't ever hurt your back, it stays with you a lifetime...Im off to bed, I have a lot to do tomorrow...night jon
Good night, buddy. Your in my prayers as always.
and mine...which I am about to do..:)
Bummer, I had to miss the show tonight and worst of all, you guys. Read through the thread though, sounds interesting.
Hope you had a good time. See ya 'round these parts and next week!
Poor imitation of AI
Poor imitation of Simon by Nigel
Gratitous rudeness and un-nessesary badgering by Nigel (again)
The competition felt like a challenge between the local ghetto dancers vs the local dance academy vs the local strip club held at the local trailer park.
BUT ... other than that ... I thought it ... sucked
Thanks for the ping, jonny.
I agree, even if the show stinks, this thread will be a hoot.
Er ... any dance belt "envy" goes on behind the scenes, I think ....
On the same topic, I finally saw the show tonight and good God, what are that kid Anthony's teachers at JUILLIARD, thank you very much, thinking of to let him out in public that way!! I'll bet they were mortified. He should know better, at his age. (Yes, you DO have to wear a dance belt! I don't care if it's not comfy!) But he seemed rather clueless in general, actually. Kiddo, you've never heard you weren't perceived as overly masculine? What bubble were you living in?
OTOH, I had the opportunity to observe a number of pro dancers at very close range for a couple of years, and not one of them was ever accused of being the sharpest Crayon in the box. Not one. They were universally vain, universally insecure, sometimes fun, and some of them were actually sympathetic and empathetic people. But you couldn't strike a match off any of them.
I'm suitable impressed with the self portraits...(g)
WOW!!! Then I am really impressed...WILL POWER and bodaciousness...
"Elliot, can you cha-cha??"
LOL, that's pretty accurate. Next week should be better, though, now that the trash (most of it) has been weeded out.
Thanks, but I have no interest in being on the dance thread.
Due to my stupid cable internet issues (that have lasted the WHOLE MONTH OF JULY), I couldn't participate much last night. But here's my review, FWIW:
Dump the hostess. The voice is not good. The fashion choices worse (kept having to hike up the straps to her dominatrix top).
Less narration in general. I don't want to hear that much explaination. I want to see the dancing and hear the judges/contestants reactions.
The music was good. Enjoyed the dancing portions of the show. Too much break dancing, esp. in light of the fact that so few of those shown made it through the "real" dancing phase of the competition.
Favorite contestants:
The overweight black guy who could really dance (from the NY tryouts). He's very likeable.
The guy (with the pregnant wife) who didn't make it.
The 29-year-old woman, once she stopped being so irritating for the cameras.
The latin dancer with the curly hair.
The Irish dancer. Will be interesting to see if she can develop the skills she needs in a short amount of time.
Least Favorite
The "male" dancer with the spandex issues. I looked at my son when he first came on the show and said, "I bet he's from Julliard." I was right. Those poor kids who go to that school get so insulated from the real world that they don't know what's engaging and what's disturbing!
The Diva girl.
All of the Britney Wannabees.
Pamela. She scared me.
The hostess. BORING, with a bad voice. The bad thing about having a female host is that females tend to be too concerned with how they look, so they won't relax and have fun. Any host that won't have fun should be canned. Also, points deducted for calling the 29-year-old's fiance "[her] father".
WED NIGHT BUMP!!
POING List!!
Be patient :) The ping is on it's way.
Well here we are for another week of bad dancing :)
Tonight's show is 90 minutes (oy!)
Freepmail me if you want on or off the ping list.
(If you don't tell me you want off then I'll assume that you want to stay on.
ENJOY THE SHOW!
