I seem to remember that DD had a twin brother that worked in the bar. Can someone ask a 12 year old? I might be mistaken. I don't want to fan the flames of conspiracy theories, but I wonder if that plays into DD's death somehow?

I also agree that maybe all of Voldermort's victims will come back to life at some point before it's all over - somehow escape that cave from the fifth book maybe?

Now, if Harry was one of the soul shoe boxes, that might explain the prophacy. Voldermort could never truly live again with that part of his soul until Harry no longer has it. Presumably, Harry would have to die for Voldermort to get it back.

What gets me is that it's diminishing returns on the soul shoe boxes. The first time he makes one, he has 50% of his soul remaining and 50% stored away. The next time he makes one, he can only donate 25%, etc. By the time he makes his 7th box, it must only contain <1% of his soul. As such, I wonder if the first one he made was the most valuable?

DD referred to his brother a couple of the times in the books, but I'm not sure where and I don't remember much about him. I seem to recall that he's dead, but I'm not sure. Unfortunately, our entire HP series is currently on loan to various friends and family members (except for HBP). I don't think any of the dead characters will come back. Rowling has said, "Dead is dead--even in the wizarding world." I think DD will make an appearance in book 7, now that his portrait is in the Headmaster's office at the school. That's an interesting point you make, about the pieces of his soul having varied value. I haven't given that any thought.

And now, I'm off to bed! See you later folks.

Maybe it'll be something akin to (good grief!) first season Buffy.

I know, but hear me out!
He could be "dead" for a couple of seconds, thereby eliminating the horcrux, but then sweeps in Ginny, who does CPR, and brings Harry back to life. (a reverse Snow White)

I know, it's way out in left field...
