The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

The gray mare sold and didn't have to go to the sale. She will be very happy at this beautiful place, not too far from here. The people looked at her before, and decided to take her. I am so glad, because her number was 131 and being that late in the sale, she would not have brought much. We did go up to the sale to see what they had. Some really nice horses. I almost bought a yearling QH gelding. What a beauty, lots of muscle and he had to be 15 hands already. He went for $850. Young horses always go cheap there. After buying that fifth wheel, I thought, I better not spent anymore. Good broke horses hauled in from out West bring good money. $4600 for a nice palomino reiner was the highest I saw.

Well, we didn't end up riding... we got a wild hair to fix a fencing issue that's bothered me ever since we put up this section of fence that Bay is tied to here... because we did it wrong. It's dry now, but dirt is piled up against the mesh, and when it gets muddy, any bedding we put down out there just comes through the fence and makes a mess... It looks pretty good right now, but trust me it looked sloppy in person, and the more it got built up there, the shorter the fence was getting from the other side ;~D.

So this is last week when the farrier was here.

So we took the mesh off and put some RR ties down, then a round.

This is Cyn getting involved in the tightening of the new mesh.

ecurbh showing her how to work the wynch...

Cyn says to Bay - "did you get all that? I didn't get it."

Here it is all done... I think those ties will do a better job of keeping the bedding and whatnot on the inside.

We're gonna add another round at the top of it so they don't lean over and bend it.... but we didn't have them today and we were tired :~D

Glad she'll have a good home. :~D

We don't have a good quality sale here... just the crap sale, where there are some good riding horses being sold quick at the beginning, and they always go cheap, and then at the end, they run all the meat horses through.... I can't bear to go.

That is so good to hear. Bob has really pushed the envelope by ignoring kidney infections and has twice been hospitalized - once for a weeks time. It is nothing to play with.

I can't bear to go.

It's too heartbreaking to attend those kind of horse sales. That's why I like this sale. No meat horses.

Fence looks good. Cyn cracks me up. So helpful.. ;")

Hey, that looks great:). It's so nice to get a job like that done. I've been out 4-5 times today to admire my handy work:)

Cyn is a hoot. In a couple of pictures, in the one where Ecurbh's back is to her, and the other where she's testing the fence, she looks ticked off, and when she's investigating the wintch, she seems really curious.
The mare is a blast to ride. She has her moments, but today was a really good day, and I had a great ride. My trainer is getting me into shape for trail riding season, and judging from the way that I feel right now, I'm nowhere near! So I'm going to crawl into bed, and post the rest of the pictures tomorrow.

We just got lights. As I mentioned earlier I like it warm but we had no ventilation. Mosquitoes would eat us up if I opened the doors. I've got to get some screens.

Cyn looks just like she's watching very closely how this works. You know if she knows how to put one up then she probably knows how to take it down:')

Heh... That's what we're afraid of ;~D

She's a weird horse... she wants to be involved, walking into the middle of the project, but she really doesn't want to be pet, she's curious about the project.

It is good.... it's a good tired at the end of the day. Couple times, when we hit frustrating parts, we wished we'd have just gone riding though :~D

I just got back on here and saw Deaconjims and everyones posts. Thanks for your advice. I'm going to go and see a doctor. I know I need too, but I just saw that herbal stuff and just wondered. I just hate everything about doctors and hospitals.
Duchess, I already eat pretty good, but havent tried cinamon. I am going to try that. : ) I have also had two kidney stones in a year, so maybe that is a cause. One was in the last few weeks. (no doctors of course!).....I know I'm bad, but I'm going to do better! : )

I'd bet money that you have a kidney infection. I've had a couple of kidney stones and had a rip roaring infection with the first one.
