This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
If that was me, I wouldn't have even posted that. I'd be screaming and running to the next county.
Waaal...I can tell you if you want. Or I can let you find out for yourself :-)
Tennessee's does that from time to time. It just needs a good cleaning with some Excalibur and lots of water, preferably warm, then take a real good glob of yellow Nitrofurizone ointment and put it up in there every few days. It'll go down.
The water pictures were me, and it WAS a wonderful thing on a very hot day. :o)
Awwww! That one was my favorite! So cute!

After I posted that, I started thinking I had the wrong person. duhhhhhh

My husband is already jealous of Tuffy, if he catches me doing all that, Tuffy's a dead man.
ROFL! : D That's it. Your posts all over have me laughing so hard, I am crying. I'm gonna go get some serious stuff done! : D
It happens, don't worry about it. I was going to tell you, I wish it was me. My picture of riding was a few laps around the back yard..lol
DIL, husband and DIL's friends all tie red ribbons to the tails of their horses when endurance riding. And for that reason, to keep people from crowding them or pulling along side to chat. None of the horses really kick but it does make strange people think twice before joining them.
They will all take the time to help new comers but they are otherwise serious about what they are doing and really don't want to spend the money and effort to do a ride where they are visiting, not competing.
Yeah, it does look pretty strange. Before I moved, I always used to wonder what the neighbors thought. Probably "Lucky Horse!" ;o)
Exactly.
Becky
Her name is Bev Doolittle and she does some fantastic work on indian ponies etc.
Yes! Bev Doolittle. The other series of prints my friend has, involve a story really, in the first print there are calvary horses, and in the background, you can see indians sneaking up to take them.
She also has one where a herd of pinto horses morph into birds.
Heh.... interesting about the red ribbons just to purposely create distance.
Bob told ecurbh he should put one on Cyn because she threatened him when Bob was behind her on his big grey appy gelding.
I'm not sure we need to. We may verbally warn when out with friends for awhile, but she doesn't seem overly touchy, Bob's horse is a pretty intimidating presence behind her.
Good morning.
Becky
Pretty picture:)
My horse is saddled, the tempratures are nice and cool this morning. We got more rain thru the night, but all clear now.
Becky
Temps here have been brutal during the day, but really cold at night.
