The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Cool picture! How many horses in that pic? I count 5.

Hey, anyone have trouble with a gelding having a swollen sheath? Tuffy's sheath is HUGE. My shoer was out yesterday and all I could get out of him was jokes. I must admit, he was pretty funny. I got Tuffy out of his stall, put him on the crossties and had my shoer bend down to look while I poked around on Tuffy. The obvious joke of, "I'd be swollen too, if you did that to me," ruined any seriousness I tried to muster.

Anyway, if it's still huge this morning I'm gonna have to call that good looking vet and discuss Tuffy's private parts. I'd sure as heck rather be calling him for something else, a lameness, a snotty nose, anything is better than a swollen sheath.

This is a neat site I found while doing research for "swollen sheath".

I know someone who has that print. That artist does a lot of that kind of work, and my friend has a few. Don't remember her name!

Good morning!

Just needs cleaned real good. I have to have the vet do Bay once a year or so, because Bay won't let me do it. "It" disappears so far up inside I can't find it. He needs a sedative. My stallion would drop if you looked at him nice, so I cleaned him myself.

AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH....I'm so mad:)

I set our dish TV to record a movie one day last week, and started watching it last night. I fell asleep before the end and just tried to finish watching it. For some unknown reason the recording stopped before the end.....It wasn't THAT great of a movie but it was at the part that explains the whole thing, I think, we got 2 1/2 hours of it, I don't know how long it is. I did a search and it's not being shown again within the next 7 days.

Has anyone seen the movie Sole Survivor, it's based on a book by Dean Koontz?

Becky

"My stallion would drop if you looked at him nice,"

Sounds like every male I know.

This is what concerns me, Tuffy's sheath was cleaned by the vet about a month ago and it really wasn't dirty at that time. He did have to stay in the stall for a couple of days because he pulled a shoe off and I just read that when they are used to being outside, the sudden inactivity can cause the swelling. It didn't swell until after he was in the stall for 24 hours so maybe that's it. Whatever it is, it looks ridiculous.

I just curious.

Has anyone ever ordered anything from State Line Tack on line? I received an E-Mail that my order has been shipped. I was wondering how long it takes to arrive here? I'm hoping it will be here before my CTR.

Does his sheeth need to be cleaned? He might have smegma or other nasty irritations up in there. That's one thing I certainly don't miss.... sheeth cleaning. :-p

Poor Tuffy. Something must have irritated him. I was going to suggest you get out the green soap, and gloves, then I read you had him cleaned out recently.

Sounds like every male I know.

You crack me up!
