This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I don't really have anything to do at the moment, I think I'll go saddle Bay up and show you all my different gear and tricks. ;~D
If he's wearing the breastcollar, I will hook the halter lead rope to that.... sometimes snap it to the ring on the breastcollar, but often I think it hangs more out of the way when higher, just around the straps themselves.
This is actually my purse, and I usually carry it here, or clipped to the front ring.
Here's a pic that shows my extra rings and where they're connected.
And just for grins, though you can't do this yet... if you did add rings, this is what regular western saddle bags look like on it. I think they look pretty good! and the leather straps I bought are long enough to also wrap around a rolled up coat, if I bring one.
Wow, you were busy:)
I like the second picture where you have the lead rope. does it bump your leg at all? I've never liked stuff hanging from the horn, bothers me, but I think that would put it far enough forward that I wouldn't feel it much. I could but a small bag like that red one on the two D's at the back, I also carry a bag around my waist.
Thanks for all the trouble. Looks like I'll be able to manage.
Becky
BTW, how does that raiser pad stay in place. Any straps?
Becky
The leadrope and halter bundle doesn't interfere at all when it's in the front, even if he's not wearing the breastcollar and it's just on the front ring. I just bundle the halter so that all the halter buckles are tucked inside and aren't clangin' on him, and tie it well so it doesn't come undone. It's a little bit of a hassle, and since I don't ~always~ need to unwrap it at all during most rides, I've thought about just using an extra halter and lead, bundling it up neat and leaving it that way so I don't have to mess with it before heading out
The wedge pad just stays in place It's a regular cashell cushion, but he did some custom shaping on it underneath to fit where Bay needed.
It's a 24' with the small slide out. Just the right size for my 1/2 ton truck (I hope!)
Rear with slide out.
Kitchen, and bath is to the left. Bed up top.
Pretty dang posh! I'd barely call that camping!
That's what I've done in the past at CTR Just get one tied on the saddle and leave it so I'm not always doing it and undoing it. I'm going to have to practice bundling one up like that. I've tried, but mine always works loose.

That's is just beautiful. I love campers:).

Chris just left. He just put the lost one back on. It's just too hot to shoe one all around right now. He'll come back next week and we'll do all three. He gave me the bad news that he is going up on his prices. I can't blame him. The price of fuel....
Becky
Well, would have been nice to have him all done, but I'm glad he was able to come right out.
I'm cooking supper, then I'm going down to Jenny's for a chick flick night:) I think we're watching Disney movies. See you all later.

This is nothing compared to some of those big 5th wheels, and motor homes. My tent/sleeping in tack rooms days are long over. :) This is my first just camper only. All the others were horse trailer/camper combos. To buy a rig like that now, with a truck would be $80,000 to $90,000. Way too much for me.
It looks quite a bit newer than ours (which is serving as a guest house right now) and very well cared for.
Nice.
Isn't it beautiful? I love horses...hope to have a farm and have a few horses someday.
Uh huh. I have a horse that looks like that. I didn't see the soldier one I was looking for but I really enjoyed your home page.
Remind me what the soldier one looked like...was it a picture of one of the soldiers in the RIP pings? If so, I got it from a newsource.
I thought is was one of yours. It showed a couple of soldiers in a battle with either an angel or Christ watching over them.
