The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

: ) we were so close to Oklahoma, we thought we'd grab a picnic and head accross to unknown territory! Hi BECKY and MACK! We are going to be heading north into Kansas then turning back and going trough MO before dropping back into Eureka springs, AR. Beautiful countryside!
We are going to see two properties on Thursday morning! I'll let you know how it goes. : )
We changed our minds when we got to Atlanta and went through Nashville to Memphis, because of roadwroks, but we will be taking the Memphis to Birmingham route back home!;

Cool! I like looking things up on a map to see where people are. Bernice Ketchum State Park is right about in the middle of this map. I hope you don't mind me posting it...

LOL of course not! The kids played at the waters edge and we finished our picnic. : ) From there we travelled north into Kansas, just to say we have been there! LOL
We are heading out of Kansas now and back into Missouri. It will give us a chance to see what the scenery is like in the west of Missouri.
I'll be checking in later.

Neither saddle has a broke tree:).

The "give" in them is just normal loosening of a saddle.

My saddle does have something going on, maybe a nail working loose under the leather that is under the fleece, that is causing the rubbing spot on Harley. They are going to take it apart to see. If it turns out nothing is wrong they'll put it back together for $20. Once we know what the problem is they'll be able to tell me the price of fixing it.

I hate bashing the shop I got that saddle from and told me it was broke. We have a strange history with those people:). They have been so good to my kids, and I appreciate it enormously, but:), even tho they build very nice saddles, and now I can still believe that, they don't have the most reputable reputation in this area. This ranch/saddle shop has been in Bixby forever, The original owner the father of Stanley and Joe is a nice man. Unfortunatly the boys didn't turn out so well. Lots of problems. I try to be loyal due to what Joe has done for Charlie, and he has always been respectful and polite and nice to all of us, but he has some problems that doesn't thrill me.

This shop I took the saddles too today is a very reputable shop. Very well known and respected, they do alot of business even from other states.

Mack says, Joe saying the saddles were broke was ineptness, Stanley saying it was he was trying to screw me. I guess I'm going to have to be done with them as far as buying tack from them. I just don't trust them much not to take advantage.

Becky

Well I'm glad to hear that the saddles aren't broke. I hate it that they steered you wrong after you've done so much business with them. That's really aggravating. I don't blame you for wanting to switch over to the other shop. They sound much more reputable. Hopefully it's something simple that they can straighten it out for you without it costing too much.

I'm stunned that the trees aren't broken and they said they were!

I sure hope you get it fixed so it works.... whatever that takes, sounds like less than you thought!

We are back from the ocean... I'm really excited to go ride there soon. It's an easy drive for us and you can ride all down the beach.

A few pics, of course :~D

This is a bay on the way back...

Hi Becky, I said to James that we should have planned ahead, cause it would have been great to meet up! : )
We have a fantastic trip, went up on into Kansas from OK, then went back into MO and down via Granby/Monett area which we loved. On the road (60) to Monett there was a beautiful horse place! Found lots of places to ooh and aah over. : ) I expected OK to be all flat and very rocky but it was hilly and lush and green in the part we went through......
I am SO glad that your saddle trees are not broken. As I expect you are. : )I would go with the company that gave you an honest opinion. I hate it though when you want to be loyal but the customer service is not returned....
We have not long got back to the cabin ( after visiting a candy shop that I definately should NOT have gone in!) and are cooking a late supper.....
Hair will have a fit because I havent taken ONE photo yet! I have been too busy looking and typing and eating pain pills! LOL

What nice pictures from both of you. Mountains and ocean...just beautiful.

What a great time I had this evening. All the girls who used to board at the old County fairgrounds, got together. We used to all be in 4-H when we were kids. It was fun going over old times, and learning how everyone's lives have went. I had an old scrap book full of old show bills, and newspaper clippings to share. One of the ladies lives in Texas now, she came up to visit. A lot still have horses, show or trail ride. Nice turnout with 16 girls there.

Tomorrow I have to go for training for work. I don't know if it will be a good break or not. Lots of changes going to be going on. You all take care.

Sounds like fun! I was never in 4H... but I had a group of friends that showed, and I'd be interesting to know where they went!

You are a very good picture taker. Any pictures are better than no pictures at all. I like the head shot of Waylon, he's a pretty boy.
