This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Yall find a truck?
I'm really concerned about Okie though. Sigh. It's my overactive worry gland acting up again, I guess.
Thanks Sharn. We had some good news yesterday. My daughters 7 year old step son, Blake told them he wanted to live permenantly with them instead of his mother, and his mother agreed. We've been hoping and praying for this for along time now. They are going to go ahead this year and send him to the public schools. They are afraid if they spring to much change on his mother too quick she is liable to take him back. Once he is good and established with them, hopefully only this one year, they hope to homeschool.
I thought it might be interesting tho to have them go ahead and test him to see where he may be lacking. I don't think he got alot of help at his mothers, or if she even paid that much attention to how he was doing. She is very nice and the kids have a good relationship with her, but she is a pretty overwhelmed person, works full time has 2 other children younger then Blake, and some other family problems. I think Blake got rather overlooked sometime.
Anyway, thanks for the link. I'll check it out and pass it on to Jenny.
Becky
You are welcome Becky! I hope they do decide to use Ace. I got the Paces too (answers), even in my 6 year olds 2nd grade class.
We didnt buy the whole course at once, we bought the first 6 months worth which spread the cost. : )
If Jenny needs to chat, freepmail me! One thing that it will mean is that by being homeschooled he will get extra attention which he probably would love! Our kids are enjoying it. In fact on Wednesday we found out that Emma would have been in her best friends class which would be new and so we asked her did she want to continue homeschool or go back? She didnt hesitate with the answer to continue with ACE! : D
Make sure Blake starts the test in the morning and let him do say one a day or two if he is enjoying it. : )
We found lots of trucks but none just right. We are not in a hurry so will just keep looking. : )
We are buying one around Christmas. For what we want it will have to be used though.
Good for your daughter and Blake. He may decide at various times growing up that he'd like to be one place or the other.... I did growing up. :~D
You are not kidding! New prices need a mortgage to be taken out! Ours is definatly going to be USED !
I put a sprinkler by the squirrel feeder to keep the horses out of it. This squirrel seemed to like the rain he's sitting there gettin' all wet :~D
That squirrel looks grateful for the cooling off!
BTW, how did Bay take it when Tiff took Sweetie home?
~sigh~ How romantic.
:-D
He's probably trying to figure out what he did wrong.
In horse-talk, he was probably saying "Was it something I said??!!"
Yeah - It's funny, that filly sure did recognize Tiff's trailer. I think she expected her mom to be in it. I'm sure she's glad to be home, unless everyone beat her up when she got home.... sometimes they do that :~\ It's a hard world for the tender hearted.
I hope Sweetie had a warm reception at home.
Thanks they/we all are excited that he is going to be with us more. He's a really fun kid to be around. It's seemed since Jenny and Travis got married that we start to get really close to Blake in the summers and then in the winters he just kind of disappears, and we lose that closeness we had with him and have to start over every summer.
Becky
I love the squirrel picture:)
Good heavens how do you keep your yard so green. Do you sprinkle:) My water bill is horrible now just taking care of the garden and watering the animals. I like to keep the yard green, but it just gets to outrageous, so right now my yard is looking pretty pathetic. It's rather stripped because of the lateral lines. I let Harely out to graze and those are about the only spots he eats at.
Becky
That's the area we had to re-seed this spring because it gets so worn down over winter by dogs and traffic. I'd like to kindof block it off from dog traffic for winter, so we don't have to start ~completely~ over.
