The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Yeah, some people burn all their money on beer, cigarettes and gambling. I just feed mine to horses. ;o)

Well, we got some more mowing done, till Tiff came and loaded Sweetie and took her home.

Their truck was broken into at the trailhead where they parked to pack up to camp. Stole her purse and gas out of the tank.

Becky: Glad the mom and daughter didn't take Rusty if the purpose for getting another horse was about to change.

Well that sucks! It'd be a nightmare to have your purse stolen. All the credit cards, drivers license and all the other stuff that anybody could use to steal your identity are in there, not to mention cash. But if she's like me, she doesn't have much of that. And stealing the gas out of the tank just adds insult to injury. Plus there's no telling how much it'll cost her to fix the truck if they broke out a window or messed up the door. Bummer! I never take my purse when I go riding, just my license and whatever cash I might need. I'll stash the cell phone under the seat.

Well, she wasn't quite sure why she brought hers, either. It was a last minute decision to leave it. They were packing in everything to camp so she didn't want to bring anything unnecessary.

They didn't break anything on the truck, thankfully, they popped the latch on the sliding back window. They even locked it back up when they were done. ;~D

But they were up in the middle of nowhere, luckily they had enough gas to get back to town. Out of gas with a horse trailer would be no fun at all.

Yeah, that would've been REALLY bad to have no gas in the middle of nowhere. I wonder how they managed to pop the latch without breaking it. They must've done it before. And locking it back when they were done was really crafty. A busted window would've been a dead give away. They were probably hoping that maybe she wouldn't notice the missing purse until they got home and went to unload. They may have even left some gas in the tank for that reason too. I know I never check my gas gauge when I get back to the jeep from a ride. I always fill up before I go and would have no reason to think it wouldn't still be full or nearly so when I got back. Strange!

I think all horses gorgeous in their own way, or have the potential to be with some groceries. I tend to like the paint brushed ones that are big butted, with long necks and close to the ground.
